Allan R Aguirre who was the charismatic frontman of world renown Christian underground punk band from the early 80’s-early 90’s called “Scaterd-Few” (along with Spy Glass Blue and Men as Trees Walking), is back with new music. It is unknown at time of this post whether it’ll be in band form or strictly solo work. The preview video I viewed mentioned “Auditory 2024” but also unsure whether that is the title of group/project. More news to come. The Family Cast Podcast which is run by Josh Kemble of Dogwood and St Didacus, has just posted a wonderful look back on that monumental Dogwood album, “Matt Aragon”. Quite honestly this is the rare album that meshed Punk Rock and Christianity in ways that most other bands couldn’t quite articulate for that time period. This album dropped right after 9/11 at a time of great despair, brokenness, and ultimately a lot of soul searching, with “Matt Aragon” coming to mend all those questions and disbelief which many of us felt at a really dark time in human history.… Continued →

Aussie melodic punk rock band – Seraphs Coal, returned in a huge way this past month for a couple sold out shows in their native country. Drummer and vocalist – Dan Jones, just gave an interview right here where he discusses a lot about the band’s impressive history, where they are at currently and where they are heading. I don’t suspect many of our readers will be familiar with What of the Night, which is a shame. This Irish & English punk band released only one album in 1979 (yes, you read that right!) making them the earliest Christian punk band (if we don’t include Death, which is a discussion for another time). The LP features post-punk, mod, and garage rock sounds and would be at home next to the likes of The Undertones, The Jam, Buzzcocks and so many others. It has been announced that Matt Carter (on behalf of Tooth & Nail Records) has re-launched the “Labeled Podcast”. Matt Carter is a member of Emery as well as Matt & Toby plus a founding member of Bad Christian. The long running, “legends in the making” Christian band known as The Altar Boys who have survived for decades and somehow come out on top with their best album ever, “No Substitute”. David has announced an end to the much loved and adored Christian punk rock label, Thumper Punk Records. He started it as a music site in 2008 and we all watched it grow as a record label the past 10 years. Him and his label will be sorely missed but we commend him for wanting to devote more time to his family. It’s tough in this scene and I know exactly how he feel coming from my perspective. With my experience the past 18 years I can tell you honestly that I have thrown in the towel a few times, wanted to a few more times, and have been battling personal doubts about my work even more times.… Continued →

The Christian hardcore/punk band LIV. announced that they have come back from hiatus. LIV. formed in December 2012 with members Matthew Salamante (Vocals), Jason Diaz (Bass), Ace Esguerra (Guitars), and Tony Esquivel (Drums). The band has released an album in 2015 via the Christian hardcore label On The Attack! Records, home to Dangerous Minds, Spirit and the Bride, and Rapture. The Christian punk band Reforma Protestante has released their music video for “Skate & Destroy“. Reforma Protestante means “Protestant reform” in Spanish. The band features Andrés Matamoros (guitar and vocals), Pablo Mata (guitar), David Barrantes (bass and vocals), and Gabo Chevez (drums). The song Skate & Destroy originally appeared on Autism Awareness, Acceptance and Research, a Benefit Comp, Vol. 2, to raise money for The Seaver Autism Center at Mt. Siani Hospital. Reforma Protestante is planning for a full length release on Thumper Punk Records, a label they have just recently signed to, later this year.… Continued →
