And the Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album Goes to.... Kanye West
So maybe a handful of people actually tuned into the Grammy Awards last night to feel the full brunt of relevance that awards shows have actually turned into (sarcasm). Well surprisingly enough but not really, considering the mass appeal (and star power) coming from one such winner in the “Contemporary Christian Music Album” category at the Grammys last night. That’s right, Kanye West took home the top prize in that category for his album “Jesus Is King”. It’s a tough thing for any artist to break into an industry/music scene that isn’t of the same comfort zone that they are usually use to so congrats to Kanye for shaking things up.… Continued →

Names Without Numbers are BACK! The band drops the new single “Empire on Fire (Feat. Matt Baird of Spoken)” on April 16th. It’s an explosive first single that truly captures the band’s unrelenting energy and righteous anger fueled rock n’ roll. This is heavy and melodic at the same time. If you enjoyed the band’s earlier music and are maybe just discovering them for the first time, you’ll be blown away. More info here.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Plankeye: I Can't Complain
There are so many songs I could have chosen from this Californian band that are top notch such as Struck By The Chord, Step Away, Who Loves You More, The Meaning Of It All, etc… I remember being at Central Bible College) in Springfield, MO during a college days back circa 1995 when I first heard the Spill album. I was amazed point blank. I dug their raw sound especially Open House & Free Me. The band split into 2 different bands by the time this song was released.… Continued →

Introducing: Archetypes Collide (Video In Post)
WOW!!!! I guess it was sometime last year or maybe the year before I first came across these guys. When I did, the first material I heard of theirs was really heavy hitting stuff, really good, really promising. Then, at some point things seemed to get far more melodic and tame.
At the end of 2020 however, the band released a new track called “Your Misery” (see the video below). This track took everything I’d heard from them to this point and blended it PERFECTLY. “Your Misery” has its melodic feel to it, but it also punches you right in the face with how heavy it can get.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Jonah33 - Silence Never Speaks
Today’s SOTD from Arkansas’ rock band Jonah33 was a single released during a 2004 campaign called Redeem The Vote that in essence was shooting to let Christian voices be heard during voter registration aimed for youths. This has always been my fave song due to the lyrics which remind me of 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Welcome back my friend,
It’s good to see your face again
I’m glad to see you’re up and feeling fine
So many things have changed,
There’s a lot of catching up to do
You’ve been asleep for quite some time
The truth that made us free
Is choked with apathy,
And there’s a crack in our foundation
So hold on, hold on, we’re in
For a bumpy ride
Our nation’s got a situation,
And God gave you a voice
So come on, come on, it’s time
To make a choice
‘Cuz silence never speaks
So God gave you a voice
The question now at hand
Is “What’s the battle plan?… Continued →

Song of the Day: Resurrection Band - Beggar in the Alleyway
Depending on how you define the term, Resurrection Band was arguably the first Christian heavy metal band. While their debut album was released in 1978, their earliest demo recordings date back to as early as 1973. While many fans and critics will argue, “they’re not heavy metal, just hard rock,” this outlook unfortunately judges the past by current standards. Metal has moved on and splintered into a hundred different and more extreme subgenres. However, in the 1970s, their brand of bluesy hard rock would definitely have been considered heavy metal at the time–just as bands like Van Halen, Aerosmith, Kiss and others were.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Willet - You Are Not Just Holy
Another holy SOTD that belongs in my top 20 worship releases! Formerly known as Clearview, this hard rock band had some great songs such as Disaster, Wineskin & We’re Not Keeping This Quiet. Also check out the video for Searchlight which features American Sign Language. Hailing from Maryland, the 3 Willet brothers have since disbanded circa 2019. Members are still in the industry leading worship & filing & editing music videos. Check out these worshipful lyrics & the live video.
As long as I live, there will be praises upon my lips
And all my days will be spent loving You, You are worthy to be praised
As long as I live, I will sing to you with endless praise
Every knee will bow and tongue confess, that Jesus is Lord
Just when I thought that this world was enough
You were, you are, and you are to come!!… Continued →

DENS to Drop Tamed Tongues, a New Version of Taming Tongues
Beloved indie rock/post-hardcore band, DENS, return with a completely new and reworked version of their 2020 album titled “Tamed Tongues”. The album will featured all reworked versions of the songs found on “Taming Tongues” but incorporating a more toned down, acoustic, Americana like vibe. The band dropped a new music video for the lead off track, “To”, that you can watch below. This is an exciting release to keep your eyes and ears on. I wish more bands would do something like this. Read the full message from DENS, below.… Continued →
Song of the Day: Daniel Band - Paradise
Canadian’s hard rock Daniel Band found its way to my collection via a local pawn shop in my hometown in Illinois back in the early 90s I would guesstimate. My mother used to buy these old totally illegal rips of bands on cassette tape. It seems so weird now that these arena rock bands we thought of as heavy metal back then! My fave bands back then was Petra, Harvest & White Heart & Whitecross & so this band made sense. Between the lyrics & the rocking music, this song has a special place in my top songs ever.… Continued →

Furnace Fest 2021
In a stunning change of events, Furnace Fest WILL return this year and in that fall slow they rescheduled to last year. You definitely don’t want to miss this one time opportunity to catch some of the biggest bands of the music scene along with some reunions and other one off shows. This will be an unforgettable weekend and something that probably will only come through once in a lifetime. Although I won’t be able to attend personally, I’ll be there in spirit. I really hope the Furnace Fest founders will somehow film this and/or make it a live streaming event.… Continued →
Lauren Daigle - Hold On To Me (New Song)
Lauren Daigle just dropped a powerful new song titled “Hold On To Me” which can be heard right here at Indie Vision Music by clicking below. Song of the Day: Addison Road - What Do I Know Of Holy
Addison Road is a pop/rock Texan band that had a 10 year span of releases. I was drawn to their singer’s (Jenny Chisholm) vocals that stood out among many female fronted bands. The rockier flair is not present though on today’s SOTD which is the last track to their 2008 S/T release. This is in my top 20 worship songs of all time. Check out these worshipful lyrics.
I made You promises a thousand times
I’d try to hear from heaven
But I’d talk the whole time
I think I made You too small
I’ve never feared You at all, no
If You touched my face
Would I know You?… Continued →

Song of the Day: 4•4•1 - Show Me
4•4•1 burst onto the SoCal new wave scene in 1984, releasing their debut album on Royal Commandment Records (soon to be re-named Blue Collar Records). The band formed in 1983 in Los Angeles County, diligently rehearsing in the garage of bassist/keyboardist Glenn Holland’s parents. They recorded a 4-song demo and subsequently sent out copies to area youth pastors. The unconventional move proved successful as they caught the attention of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, a large church that hosted lots of concerts for Christian new wave and early alternative bands.… Continued →

Dropping These Names Without Those Numbers
One of my favorite long running emo/indie/post-hardcore bands, Names Without Numbers, will return VERY soon with a brand new song titled “Empire on Fire”. All I can tell you is that this is a powerful and heavy track, perfect for long drives and weight lifting sessions. This is one of the best songs the band has ever written. As the kids would say, it’s a “banger”. It seriously slaps and goes beyond the typical hard rock radio fare that some radio stations are obsessed with.… Continued →
Song of the Day: Value Pac - Big Dream
Today’s Song of the Day post (by me, Brandon) is none other than Value Pac, a short lived and mostly “90’s” exclusive, pop-punk act. The band got their humble beginnings in 1995 here in Orange County, CA. I first heard of the band with a demo tape under their original name, One by One at a show I went to in Tustin, CA. circa 1995. The band played raw (sometimes rough) pop-punk that would please punk purists and pop fans at heart. It was the perfect blend of poppy melodies over a garage-y like sound mixed with the sun soaked beaches and concrete jungle of Southern California.… Continued →
