Spoken Begins Tracking New Album
Spoken are busy at it once again and have begun tracking their new album. This will be the follow up to “Breathe Again” which released in 2015. Unfortunately recent guitarist/songwriter Scoop Roberts will be stepping away from the band after they record this new album. You can watch a video below detailing why. I think they need to bring back Jef Cunningham and go out on tour playing hits from their earlier 4 albums from 2000-2007. That’d be sweet!… Continued →

REVIEW : Hope/Well - The Danger of Falling
The Danger of Falling channels European melodic hardcore influences on this succinct-yet-power EP.
Check Out: The Persuaded
Nashville-based metalcore/alternative metal act The Persuaded brings a heavy-yet-radio-friendly sound with overtly Christ-centered lyrics. Fans of Disciple, Project 86, and Spoken should definitely take a listen.
Phinehas Drummer Exits the Band
Phinehas, Christian metalcore band from California, has had a successful couple years. Last year they already released a Acoustic EP, titled Fight Through the Night. This year might be a bit rough on the band, though as Drummer Lee Humerian has announced his departure from the band. Humerian, alongside Vocalist Sean McCulloch, have been the main members of the band since 2007. Over the years, they gained Bassist Bryce Kelly (2012) and Becoming the Archetype Guitarist Daniel Gailey (2014), and this became the lineup most knew for the last 3 years.… Continued →

REVIEW : Final Surrender - Nothing But Void
How common is metal in Asia? Does anyone know? The genre of metal is a rare one to say the least, especially over in Asia. Final Surrender is one of the pioneers of the genre there. The Progressive metalcore act has been working hard on this album. Their debut album, Empty Graves, was released 4 years ago.
The album begins with the single “Nothing But Void”. The track brings elements of techno music, Progressive metalcore, and thrash metal. There is plenty of work going on with the drums and percussion.… Continued →

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. -Psalm 91:11
Following the success of their first full length, Volontà Legata, Tuscany based S91 have returned with their first all English language release, Behold The Mankind. Deriving their name from “Salmo”, the Italian word for psalm, S91 formed in 2006 to realize their dream of creating progressive metal with Christian lyric content.
Each release by S91 has been an extensive process. In 2012, S91 began writing Behold The Mankind in collaboration with producer Cristiano Bertocchi (Labyrinth, Vision Divine, Wind Rose) before finally entering the studio in 2015 to record.… Continued →

It’s been a quiet handful of years for the metalcore group MyChildren MyBride. They’re last release is nearly 5 years old but thankfully, they’re not finished.
They announced on their Facebook page there is new MCMB music on the way for 2017. Another interesting bit is the picture they posted containing only 2 members.

REVIEW : Easter Teeth - Shake Hands With Danger
Just as you can’t judge a book by its cover, neither should you be expecting cowboy music from Easter Teeth on Shake Hands With Danger. You can expect something oddly brilliant and challenging.
Since 2009, the Eymann brothers, Josh and Tim, have been messing with peoples ears as they mix soul into hardcore. Think what would happen if Death From Above 1979 were liberally coated with the soulfulness of James Brown, with a wild assortment of sounds thrown in from a box of unusual gadgets, and you get a hint of where Easter Teeth is heading.… Continued →

REVIEW : On New Horizons - Carolino
Airy guitars, soothing piano, and a strong knack for minimalist composition make for a great listening experience on Jon Carolino's On New Horizons EP.

2016 was an awesome year of tons of genres I love. This year heralded the return of some of my favorite bands as well as some newcomers who I'll be sure to keep my eye on in years to come.
REVIEW : The Prevailing - K. Gautier
K. Gautier's first album shows promise and skill but falls victim to feeling dichotomous and simply too long.
