REVIEW : Taking the Head of Goliath - Beyond Brutal Live

How many live EPs do you have? Cause you’ll want this one. Undead Metal (for those who don’t know what that means, it’s my play on Christian death metal) band, Taking the Head of Goliath has released a great live recording of their first show; the first show of one band and one of the last for the band For Today. “The Expulsion of Putrid Illusion” reminded me of Abated Mass of Flesh, with brutal-ness of the guitars, the speed of the drums and the guttural vocals.… Continued →

Second band, day after. Just as I predicted. Anyways, Rottweiler has a new band, O Wretched One. They are said to sound like Fleshgod Apocalypse, Cradle of Filth, and Dimmu Borgir. The Mystery That is Lo Tom

The alt-rock and indie scenes are no stranger to mystery, and Lo Tom is no exception. The band has actually been around for a few years now, but with no recordings, samples, or videos to date, we’ve been wondering what they sound like. Their tunes will no doubt be amazing, as the line-up is none other than Jason Martin (Starflyer 59, White Lighter), David Bazan (Pedro the Lion, Headphones, Overseas), Trey Many (Starflyer 59, Low & Behold, White Lighter, Velour 100), and TW Walsh (Pedro the Lion, The Soft Drugs, and mastering engineer).… Continued →

Summer Slam Vol. 1 (2006) Now Available

Back in 2006 I dreamt up my first Free digital compilation download. Back in those days not too many sites were diving into the free compilation game so it really pushed me to do something different. This compilation is super old and the majority of the bands don’t exist anymore. Still, there are some decent songs. I believe the songs will sound better if downloaded as MP3 so avoid the wav route. So without further delay, check it out right here. Continued →

This Armistice - New Breath + New Heartbeat = Change

Throwback Review 2: (New Breath + New Heartbeat) = Change - This Armistice

Hey everyone. In case you missed last week’s introductory review (about Good Luck Varsity, which you should definitely read), I’m doing a throwback review series – mostly pertaining to bands who new made it into the spotlight before breaking up but who I think deserve a listen. If you have any examples who fit the mold, let me know! This week’s feature is the excessively-titled EP (or LP? I’m not really sure) (New Breath + New Heartbeat) = Change by This Armistice. History This Armistice was a short-lived ambient and post-hardcore band whose discography was a paltry two releases.… Continued →
