Beloved Drop First New Original Song In Nearly 2 Decades

By in News | 6 Comments

Returning to our collective mindset here in 2021 with their first new song in almost 20 years is “Abyss” by the band Beloved. It is everything you wanted the band to sound like in 2021 and everything you’ve dreamed about for years. It certainly does live up to expectations and takes them in an entirely new yet still grasping on to pieces of the past. While I can certainly name off handfuls of bands that have recently reunited that maybe shouldn’t have, Beloved are not one of those bands. While their cover of “Like a Song” was near perfection for me last year, it was a little too polished for some people (not for me). This track fits that well rounded production sound but incorporating the pure rawness and explosive energy the band puts forth. The screamed vocals are so dang heavy and perfect for the Beloved sound much like their past material. This just sounds more natural and organic. Check out “Abyss” by Beloved, below or on your favorite digital network. The band has made it clear that there is no new album coming in the near future and that this is the band’s first time coming together to create something original on their own terms. If this one song is any indication of what could come, what might come, or what maybe will never come, regardless, let it be a reminder of insanely talented musicians joining together in a studio to create something unlike others out there but then also reaching through a sense of familiarity and tackling our consciousness with a heavy dose of nostalgia. This is how it’s done, and this IS Beloved….

Sounds great! I’m impressed and, no, I didn’t expect the same old sound 20 years later but this still has the same spirit. Happy to hear the harsh vocals retained.
