The face melting, easycore leaning, pop-punk super stars known as – HOMEPLATE, are back, well sort of. The band just re-released their music on all digital stores and they dropped a super fun sonic (the hedgehog) REMIX track of the song “Time Stands Still”, one of their originals. Check out the song below or on all digital networks. Also be sure to give their debut EP a listen, it’s called “Derby City” and was one of the best things of 2020 next to their pals in Grandpa Loves Rhinos of course.… Continued →
Reap and Sow Release Punishing New Album That Will Ignite Your Stereo in an Explosive Ball of Flames
Reap and Sow, an east coast melodic/hardcore band, just dropped one of the best new independent heavy music albums of 2021. Stretching it? Well, give it a listen now and you decide. Remember, all opinions are completely subjective and in my honest opinion THIS is some incredible stuff especially from an unsigned, independent band. New album “Greyworld” is out now and on all digital networks across the world. Listen to the full album in a special link right here.… Continued →

Sorry for the onslaught of news this morning. I’ve got a lot to catch up on due to some health issues I’ve been going through. So let’s get at it. Check out the pre-order here in some really sweet options including vinyl with some unique features. Album is out September 3rd on Facedown Records. You can find the song below.… Continued →
HeavyMind - Hold Me (Debut Song)
I’d like to introduce HeavyMind to all of you. It’s a kickback indie pop type duo featuring Teddy Boldt (Teddy At Night) and Mark Campbell. They released a debut song titled “Hold Me” on all digital networks back at the end of May and I guess I somehow missed posting about it. To me at least it sounds like mixing up The Weeknd, Chris Isaac, NYVES, TwentyOnePilots, Cool Hand Luke, and Gotye. It sounds like a weird combo of RIYL artists but that’s my train of thought and what I’m hearing.… Continued →

Check the song out below. Can we all come to an agreement that this band absolutely RIPS? Oh yeah!… Continued →

Song of the Day: L.S. Underground - The Fold
I first heard L.S.U. in about 1991. I had been a pretty staunch metalhead, but a few alternative rock bands were starting to open me up to new colors in my musical palette. While the experimental This is the Healing was the first album I heard from them, The Grape Prophet is a favorite of fans and critics alike.
The album was one of the first and only concept albums, or “rock operas” as band leader Michael Knott liked to call them. The Grape Prophet tells the story of Ellis, an orange picker who works for Col.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Velour 100 - Toledo
I’m a sucker for all things shoegaze, including music that often falls under the wider umbrella of dream pop, madchester/baggy, indie pop and some forms of Britpop and space rock. While shoegaze had a limited representation amongst Christian artists, there were a few who really excelled in the genre. Ypsilanti, Michigan’s Velour 100 was one such artist.
Led by Trey Many (who had honed his skills in the mainstream His Name is Alive and Liquorice; also a member of indie rock supergroup Lo-Tom), and rounded out by vocalist Amon Krist (daughter of renowned folk artist Jan Krist) on the debut, the band employed a trio of lead vocalists for their more accessible and also edgier sophomore effort Of Color Bright.… Continued →

Lightworker - Crawling in the Dark (Hoobastank Cover)
Most covers are just quickly mashed together, lacking any real emphasis on originality, pulling an existing song out of it’s sameness and reigniting it to a whole new level. Well my friends, Lightworker have taken the old song “Crawling in the Dark” from 00’s rockers – Hoobastank, and given it a whole new life. Most people don’t know that Hoobastank created a whole bunch of music/songs before The Reason took over airwaves and people’s hearts. This song was a real rocker and Lightworker have breathed new life into this song and the genre as a whole.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Besieged - The Years Between
How often have you gone back to listen to an album that was more than 10 years old, only to find it didn’t hold up as well as you thought it would? A sloppy guitar part here, or a bad mixing job there, or even just song ideas that didn’t really work as well in hindsight?
I first heard Atlantis in 2007 when I was asked to review it for Uprise Zine (if you remember that publication, give me a shout!) While I definitely remember liking it, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it sounds 14 years after its release.… Continued →

I’m incredibly late with this post and I apologize. European Metal kings by way of Finland – Ocean Dark, just dropped their album last month titled “Hope & Chaos”. This mostly unknown band has begun making waves and there’s no stopping them. Please check out “Hope & Chaos” by Ocean Dark on your favorite digital network. The song “Home” is posted below to give you a taste of the whole thing.… Continued →
The Many Adventures of The Joneses and The Jesus Music Film (2021)
Well, we just returned from a wild week at Great Wolf Lodge here locally in So Cal. We spent countless days at the water park and even Knott’s Berry Farm as well as spending precious time with my wife and children. We even had our oldest son Brayden stop by for a bit on last Thursday. Overall, was a great time spent with family and unforgettable memories were had. My wallet still aches but well, what did I expect lol. I have some pics/vids up on my private Instagram so check it.… Continued →
Radical Radical Release 3rd Song, "I'm Not Ok, and That's Ok"
This is a truly exciting and mood stimulating new music project from Adam Lohrbach formerly of pop-punk kings, Home Grown. Radical Radical has now grown to be an official band with 4 members and played their first live show a few weeks ago to a very enthusiastic crowd here in Southern California. The band just released their latest song, the 3rd one so far in 2021 for those keeping track. The song is titled “I’m Not OK, and That’s OK”, which most definitely has an honest, open, and hopeful viewpoint expressed through some great emo/pop-punk.… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Choir - Gripped
One of the longest-running indie/alternative bands in the Christian scene, The Choir emerged in the 1980s initially as Youth Choir, shortening the name after the release of one album and one EP. The band formed in 1983 and were instrumental in the early 80s Calvary Chapel scene in Southern California, that also included stalwarts like Undercover, Altar Boys, and 4-4-1.
Where some of their counterparts flirted with punk and harder alternative sounds, The Choir’s sound rarely ‘rocked’ so much as it created atmospheres and layers that have never been easily pigeonholed into any particular scene or sound and yet have toyed with dream pop, indie pop, and at times even shoegaze.… Continued →

TAKE Release Brand New Album "Power Trip"
The band TAKE, from Las Vegas, Nevada are back with a brand new album titled “Power Trip”. The album is a trip down a familiar path while retaining the heaviness and originality the band has become known for. This isn’t the typical, this isn’t mundane and this certainly is not boring. It’s a heavy album but not consisting of that same cookie cutter style everyone is going for. Brings to mind bands like The Warriors, Pantera, Living Sacrifice, Every Time I Die, and really closing the divide between all the diverse sounds of heavy bands you know and love.… Continued →

The Blamed Re-Recording Landmark Debut Record, "21"
Legendary masters of punk-thrash-metal – The Blamed, are going to re-record their landmark, classic album from 1994 called “21”. This debut was really great back when I first heard it and reminded me why I love/loved punk rock. It was like a garage-y, underground sounding album that evoked immediate love for the live experience and sweat drenched, basement worthy punk shows. Even though many of us didn’t venture into that scene as much as others, just hearing a record like this brought to mind what it must have been like.… Continued →

Pennylane Concert Footage from 2006
I also found this old concert footage of the band Pennylane performing at Kauai Christian Fellowship in Poipu, Kauai in the great state of Hawaii. This is also a short segment and I believe my camera died which is why I didn’t film it all or something (memory is foggy). Anyway, check out this long lost fragment of Pennylane in a time long since past, and enjoy what you see. Sound is not good FYI and it was a small room with bass overflowing and drowning out the rest of sounds.… Continued →
Unashamed and Strongarm Concert Footage from 1995
I dug this old VHS tape out of the deepest cavern of Pre-Indie Vision Music archives that I could search through. This old tape was converted to digital (Digitized) by a company called imemories out of Arizona. I love their services and they’ve done a tremendous job so far. Anyway, check out this really old concert footage of the bands Unashamed and Strongarm from 1995 at a Church in Capo Beach California (Dana Point) called “Capo Beach Calvary Chapel”. I was 17 years old at the time and holding my parents VHS camcorder.… Continued →

Playlist: 21 for 21 in 21
I decided to celebrate Indie Vision Music’s 21st anniversary with a new playlist. I picked 21 new songs from 21 of my favorite female solo artists to create the playlist. You’ll find a variety styles here, from well-known artists like Madison Cunningham and Lacey Sturm to lesser-known artists like Tenielle Neda and Abby Hollidayābecause you know that’s just how we do it here at IVM.

IVM 21: No Lost Cause - Take 2 (Full Album Stream)
In honor of our country’s independence and a day of mass country-wide celebrations, I thought it would be appropriate to share a very special new album that Thumper Punk Records is releasing next week by the ska-punk project, NO LOST CAUSE. It is special in that very few “Christian” bands are even playing this style of music and even fewer can play it as good as this sounds. “Take 2” is a full length record comprised of new and old songs from the NLC catalog all reworked/remixed and with added horn sections to make these songs sound so much more incredible than they did in the past.… Continued →
