LEDGER - Not Dead Yet (Audio Stream)

Jen Ledger who has been with the band Skillet for a few years (and albums) has emerged as a new solo artist, releasing her first new song titled “Not Dead Yet” (listen below). This debut LEDGER 6 song ep will release on Friday April 13th worldwide via Atlantic Records. Read a more in depth story (and interview) about the new ep at Loudwire right here. Take a listen to the song then comment below with your thoughts. I love the Flyleaf meets Evanescence meets Fireflight vibe of this. I’m not just saying that because she is a “female” vocalist fronting a rock band, I’m saying it because those are all powerful female vocalists and so is Jen Ledger. Continued →

MxPx Prove It To The World That Tomorrow Is Not Just Another Day and Take Their Punk Rawk Show Directly to the Fans

That’s right friends, the much loved and critically adored long running legends of a band – MxPx, are back and with a new album. They are here to prove that 26 years later it isn’t the end but rather a step in the next phase of this band’s legendary career. It’s hard to believe that seeing them in some sweaty Church basement here in Orange County, CA. back in 1995 with all of us (band included) being youths, that their music would endure through the years attracting new fans each step of the way. For a 3 piece punk rawk band, that has to be a something they are proud of and all of us fans should commend them for. I know people grow up, beliefs change (for some), life situations alter, and other things in life can take a crazy spin, but when you have consistently solid music for 26 years you can’t help but sit back and be mesmerized by it all. I have always been a fan of this band because I appreciate positive music and because their sound has always remained a constant. They are a fitting reminder that you don’t have to go all prog-rock or super indie to be accepted by fans and peers. They are just themselves and that’s great for all of us. Anyway, the band has announced a kickstarter campaign to fund their new album. Watch the video below and contribute right here. Continued →

We Are Leo - Light Up My World

We Are Leo just released the hot brand new track titled “Light Up My World” and it can be heard below. This modern pop/dance song appears on the “God’s Not Dead: A Light In The Darkness” soundtrack which is available now from Dream Label Group. I know this is super pop oriented but there is a certain endearing quality about this song. Great lyrics and fits well with Easter. Stream the song and compilation below. Continued →

Switchfoot Return With Powerful, Artistic Take on Modern Metal

Switchfoot have gracefully returned from their years long slumber to reemerge as a metal band. Check out this first single titled “Project 11” which does sound eerily familiar but not sure quite how. This is the “heaviest” the band has ever sounded. Those of you that were secretly wishing for a Jeremy Camp metal project can settle for second best and get a sweet Switchfoot one instead. What goes better with the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ than Bunnies, Eggs, Peeps, and good ol’ heavy metal? Well it works, right? Happy Easter everyone, I hope you all have a wonderful day with your families, friends, and even those that choose not to believe. There IS peace, there IS hope, and there IS definitely love in this Faith we cling so tightly to. Continued →

Everything Is Gonna Be Alright, Be Strong, Believe: 15 Hits From 15 Years Ago

15 years ago a collection of what can now be determined as “classic hits” were unleashed on a crowd that had an insatiable appetite for what was new and and considered “ROCK” music. This was sorta near the end of the Bye Bye Byes and I’m Not That Innocent, charting new territory into the popular spectrum by a bunch of bands not exactly ready for that sort of success. This was a pivotal year for music in general and in my opinion was that comeback Rock needed at the perfect time. As much as people needed their Nu-Metal, Pop, Rap/Hip Hop, Hard Rock, etc., those of us in the underground music scene desired something new and something different. These bands were just that and sparked a change in direction. This is my list. This is 2003. A snapshot of the greatest year in music post-new millennium. Make sure to scroll all the way to bottom for special IVM Playlist of songs from 2003. Be Strong, Believe…… Continued →
