Song of the Day: Barren Cross - Believe

One of Christian metal’s most prominent acts during the genre’s Golden Period (roughly 1986-1992), Barren Cross rocked a traditional heavy metal sound, managing to stay both heavy and melodic without ever succumbing to glam on the one hand, or thrash on the other. The band released 4 full-length studio albums, a live album and a handful of singles & EPs before calling it quits in the mid-90s. A pair of compilations appeared in 2007 and 2014, respectively. Members (especially vocalist Mike Lee) have been active in a number of other projects including Barebones, Michael D.R.I.V.E.,… Continued →

Too Bad Eugene Release New Song and Music Video for "Unacceptable"

Too Bad Eugene have released their new song “Unacceptable” along with a music video for the politically charged but ultimately fun new song. Check out below. I am sure many of us share some of these sentiments, am I right? The band are also working on a follow up record to “Battle Scars” but you didn’t hear that from me. “Unacceptable” will also be available on “Fighting From The Ground Up Vol. 4” due out November 8th!… Continued →

Song of The Day: Capital Lights - Honey Don't Jump

Today’s Song of The Day comes from a band called “Capital Lights”, which are little heard of this day and age and whose last album released all the way back in 2012. That was 12 years ago, can you believe it? This band released 2 fantastic albums. While some people didn’t find as much enjoyment in the last album (final?), I certainly did. One of the highlights (there are plenty) for me off that record was “Honey Don’t Jump”. With lyrics about pulling someone from the brink of depression only to show them God’s love, grace, and ultimately, salvation in him.… Continued →

Introducing: Carly Ann Taylor

Another introduction for today is the music of Carly Ann Taylor. Carly is a young singer songwriter from Southern California with a bright and happy, soulful sound. She released her debut EP “Changing My Story” earlier this year and is gearing up to release her brand new single “Why Should I Worry” on November 15th. Pre-Save the single here. Her EP is really well done for an independent singer-songwriter and it being a “debut”. I encourage you to give her music a listen and pre-save that new single.… Continued →

Introducing: Lo Cloud

It’s time for a new band introduction and today I bring you “Lo Cloud”. Lo Cloud is a new indie band featuring Matt Hammitt formerly of Sanctus Real. The band have dropped their debut single “Sleepwalker” and it is available now! They have a great sound with vocals that soar. Imagine Jimmy Eat World meets Anberlin meets Thirty Seconds to Mars meets Plankeye and Switchfoot. It’s a unique sound with somewhat of a 90’s rock undercurrent mixed in with all the modern sounds. It’s really good stuff and I think a bunch of our readers will appreciate the sound of Lo Cloud.… Continued →

Pennylane to Release First New Song in 20 Years on November 8th

Pennylane are back from the dead and releasing a brand new recorded song titled “Thank You” in honor of the 20th anniversary of their critically acclaimed indie release, “From Paradise To Parking Lots” which originally came out on Indie Vision Music back in 2004 and has recently been re-released by the band themselves. They have a very short clip on their instagram page of the new song but I am sure more teases will drop in the coming weeks leading up to release. If you didn’t get a chance to listen to this Hawaii based band the first go around, now will be your perfect opportunity to get into Pennylane.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Charity Empressa - Crush of Mountains

Charity Empressa is essentially a solo project of Eric Campuzano (The Prayer Chain, Lassie Foundation, Stranger Kings, ex-Starflyer 59, Cush) with a revolving cast of support and collaborators. While the list of those giving input is lengthy, among them are Troy Daughtery (Hoi Polloi, Duraluxe), Wayne Everett (Prayer Chain, Lassie Foundation, ex-Starflyer 59, solo), Frank Lenz (Fold Zandura, solo, ex-Starflyer 59), Andrew Prickett (Prayer Chain, My Brother’s Mother), Herb Grimaud (the violet burning, Raspberry Jam, Stranger Kings), Josh Hagquist (ex-Dogwood, The Beautiful Mistake), and many others.… Continued →

Too Bad Eugene are returning in 2024, just a few short months after releasing their new album “Battle Scars” with even more NEW music coming! They are releasing a new track titled “Unacceptable” just in time for election day where this divisive country will go and throw down their vote for the candidate that will most piss off the other side and vice versa. How fun! So you’ll certainly want to settle down, kick back a few energy drinks and rage in your room or office to the sounds of Too Bad Eugene.… Continued →

Brave Days Release "Tulip"

Texas based Pop-Punk/Easycore band – Brave Days, are back with a brand new song titled “Tulip” and it’s the best thing they’ve ever done. The perfect mix of pop and heavy almost post-hardcore, metalcore screaming action. It’s an amazing combo, thus the phrase “Easycore” being used here (if you don’t know what it is, please look it up and find some killer bands to become a fan of). “Tulip” is now available wherever you listen to music courtesy of Common Thread Records. You can also listen below, right here at IVM.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Subsist - Phil499

Straight-edge hardcore band Subsist came to us from central Illinois. The band contained believers, but never set out to preach. Their lyrics focused more on the straight edge lifestyle (i.e., abstaining from drugs, alcohol, and indiscriminate sex), rather than a Gospel presentation. They released an EP (Lessons in Brokeness) for Pennsylvania-based Akeldama Records in 1998, and then a full-length (The Rhythm Method), which the band released themselves in 2000. The band showed significant growth in their songwriting and technical prowess between the two releases.… Continued →

Light The Way Announce November 2024 Tour

Light The Way have just announced a string of dates this November reaching into cities in both California and Nevada, so west coast only this run. Unfortunately the tour doesn’t make it down my way to Orange County so super sad face emoji (an abundance of tears). Anyway, click below this post to see the dates/times and get ready to rock out with one of the best Faith based Pop-Punk bands around. New music on the way very very soon…..… Continued →

Seth Davey (Ex-Attalus) Begins Kickstarter to Record "Hymns in Hindsight"

Seth Davey, a former member of the late great post-hardcore/indie band, Attalus, has returned with another collection of songs under his name, this one titled “Hymns in Hindsight”. He has launched a new kickstarter here and will be donating 1/2 the money rasied on kickstarter to Ashe County, North Carolina relief efforts which has been devastated by Hurricane Helene a few weeks ago and of which he shares a common story with the people and land there. Consider supporting this Kickstarter and you’ll be blessed with not only some amazing and beautiful music I might add but also see some of your money go to a great cause and help people in that part of the country who desperately need our help.… Continued →

Song of The Day: The Hotshot Freight Train - Appalachia (Prayers and Support for Those Struggling on the East Coast)

Today’s Song of the Day post is a little bittersweet. It’s a great song but comes with unfortunate ties to a region so devastated by Hurricane Helene. The song is titled “Appalachia” and is about life living in that region of the country around the beautiful Appalachian mountains and the many towns along that path. This rings oh so true… “And for those of us who daily struggle…daily struggle with the past. The best medicine is the gospel and a whiskey glass”. I figured the song, the band, and this post were relevant due to the many struggles of the residents right now, particularly in North Carolina and Tennessee especially.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Alakrity - For the Good of Getting Better

Wisconsin: most known for cheese curds, dairy farms, glacial lakes, and the Green Bay Packers. It’s also home to pop-punk band Alakrity (nowadays known as At the Wayside). We’re digging deep into the band’s archive for this track. “For the Good of Getting Better” comes from their debut release, 2007’s You Are Here EP. The track features sugary-sweet melodies and fast tempos, the two main hallmarks of the genre. The song also features some really cool vocal harmonies and lots of start-stop rhythms and tempo changes.… Continued →

Too Bad Eugene - Astronomical Ft. Mercy Nigh (Official Music Video)

Check out this beautiful and sentimental new music video from Santa Cruz, CA. based pop-punk band – Too Bad Eugene. The track is “Astronomical” and features frontman Adam Nigh’s daughter Mercy Nigh. It’s a sweet video and done well, showing the connection between father and daughter much like the song itself. The song is off the band’s most recent album, “Battle Scars” (People of Punk Rock Records). As a bonus, I spy an Indie Vision Music Tshirt on a member. Do you see it? Which member?… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Crimson Bridge - Comin'

One of the finest acts of the Jesus Music era, The Crimson Bridge formed in 1970. While the origins of the band were in the Gospel vocal group The Spurrlows, The Crimson Bridge’s sounds and influences were much more diverse. Sure they dabbled in the typical folk music sounds of the Jesus Movement, but they also added jazz-funk, prog rock, and psychedelic rock on their debut (and only) album, eponymously titled and released in 1972 on then-fledgling Myrrh Records. “Comin'” is the third track on the album and focuses on the return of Jesus.… Continued →

Names Without Numbers We Create Reality EP Release

The EP release the majority of us who’ve following this band have been waiting for, is finally here! Names Without Numbers which is a personal favorite band of mine (like you couldn’t tell), are releasing the best music they’ve ever done and even though it’s just an ep, these songs add a extra punch to an already glowing display of music in their two decades long career as a band. The depth of writing, the production, the variety in sounds on these songs are nothing short of extraordinary.… Continued →
