Mainframe is a pop-punk band that was active in the late 2010s, and appears to be active again. They achieved an original sound by incorporating other elements such as alternative rock, and also included harsher, rawer vocals than are often associated with pop-punk. I’ve recently acquired copies of all three of their physical releases and have had a chance to listen to each of them, finding in them a unique approach to the genre.
Each of the three releases were through our very own Indie Vision Music, when Brandon (founder and head honcho of IVM) was running a label in addition to the website. Additionally, they released a fourth project in 2023, available only in digital formats.
While we haven’t heard much from the band over the last 3 years, their Instagram page is active, and it appears they’ll have a song included on the new compilation Fighting from the Ground Up Vol. 5. Here’s hoping that the track won’t be a one-off.
“Peter” comes from their sophomore release Burn the Boats. The track grabbed me on first listen with its raw intensity and passionate delivery.
