Song of the Day: Circle of Birds - Circle of Birds

I haven’t yet featured any post-rock on the Song of the Day series, so it’s time to remedy that. Circle of Birds was a one-off collaboration between members of Ester Drang, Unwed Sailor and Lasso. The vast ensemble (encompassing nine members!) allowed for a true spirit of improvisation. The resulting 3-song EP is entirely instrumental, but it’s a very satisfying listen. Diving Deep into Shoegaze

So a new friend or acquaintance finds out you’re into music. The inevitable question follows: “what kind of music do you like?” How honest are you? Do you simply say, “I like a little bit of everything?” You know that’s not true. You can’t stand Matchbox 20. Do you try something a little more honest, but still generic, like, “mostly rock stuff.” No, that won’t work either–they might think you mean Lynyrd Skynyrd. Or are you blatantly honest with them, knowing they are unlikely to have a clue what you mean: “my favorite genre is probably shoegaze.”… Continued →

Introducing: Shake It Up

I am introducing you readers to a new ep from Shake It Up. A few of you long time readers may recognize this project because we had posted about various singles in the past. Well Daniel Nothe and his band Shake It Up are back with their debut Ep titled “Everything That Makes You Wonder”. It is a spacey, garage rock type project that would please fans of 90’s bands especially those on Tooth & Nail back in the day.
