Most Anticipated Releases of 2019: Rob Jensen

So, 2018 is behind us, another year on the books. After having put together a list of my favorite releases for the year, I decided to try going in the opposite direction and form a list of the albums I’m anticipating most in the coming year. Now, a bit of a heads up before we dig in; I am almost certainly missing some albums here. Some may have escaped my attention, and I’m sure there are more to be announced yet as well. All mentioned below I’m sure are coming this year, but a specific date has yet to be given.… Continued →

RED Launch Large Campaign to Fund Their New Album

RED have just launched a large donation based campaign to fund the release of their next studio effort. Check out the campaign right here via GoFundMe and watch the video below. As of date of this post they’ve raised $45k of a $100k goal. This will be an independent release (so far). It appears thus far that this campaign will be a bit different than other campaigns on sites such as Kickstarter, IndieGoGo, Pledge Music, etc. in that you may not receive any “perks”. More to come.… Continued →

Best of 2018: Rob Jensen

2018 had a number of great albums, all of which I couldn’t list here, but after careful consideration, these are my top 20, none of which are listed lightly. See which ones you’d have picked out and maybe find some new music to check out. And please remember, if you do end up finding something new, please support the artist by picking up some of their music! 1. Amongst The Giants – Obscene Part of the roster of the fairly new label, Rockfest Records, this hard rock/metal outfit released not just the best album of 2018, but the best in their genre over the past few years.… Continued →

Letter Kills Teasing Return?

Letter Kills just might be teasing a comeback. It’s a little soon to speculate what it could mean; a one-off reunion show? An new album? I recommend finding the band on their social networks like Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date with whatever is going on, because there certainly appears to be activity of some kind going on. Who would like to see these guys get things going again?… Continued →

Introducing: Census

Jessieville, Arkansas is about the last place on earth I’d expect to discover a new artist. I’ve been there, the entire town is comprised of a high school, a post office, and a burger shack. Yet much to my surprise that’s exactly where the progressive rock band Census comes from. The group started out as metalcore releasing an EP and a handful of singles. But with guitarist Ben Carey taking over on vocals the band has taken on a slightly different sound. Check out their newest single “I Can Feel Eternity” below and find the rest of the band’s discography on Bandcamp.… Continued →

The Incomplete List of 2018's Rock Albums and EPs

Finding a rock album in 2018 feels like searching for a needle in a haystack of hip hop. That’s why I’ve done my best to collect all of the rock, alternative, indie, metal, and punk albums I’ve come across in 2018 into one list for you. It’s far from complete (especially when it comes to heavy albums) but hopefully you will be able to find at least a few albums and EPs you haven’t heard yet. Enjoy! (Oh, and feel free to contribute more to the list in the comments!)… Continued →

REVIEW : Review: P.O.D. - Circles

P.O.D. has long been a favorite of mine, and likely the first Christian band I ever listened to. Their successes have made them a staple among hard rock fans in both Christian and secular markets, and despite a less popular album here or there, or even less interest in the hard rock genre in general, the band’s fanbase have continued to remain loyal to the band, a fact easily evidenced by the band’s live shows and the online response to all the latest news, especially where new music is concerned.… Continued →

REVIEW : Emery - Eve

(Actual album cover in review. Edited Cover provided by our friends at JesusFreakHideout ) The southern emo/screamo/rock/alternative/however you decide to classify them boys have returned after three years from their last full length release. You’ve read the controversy, you’ve seen it, and so what is there to say about this album? Well, a lot. “Is This The Real Life” sets the general tone of Eve; and that is mellow and thoughtful. The lyrics of the song at first seem to be rather ambiguous in form of stream-thought.… Continued →
