Detroit post-hardcore duo American Arson have returned from a brief hiatus with the explosive-yet-catchy single, “Rise”, which you should definitely check out below. “Rise” opens with the pair’s trademark grit, before seamlessly going into a sing-along bit. The track shimmers with some of the most melodic elements we’ve seen from American Arson to date – the chorus is catchy and there’s a shimmering, synth-like ambiance at play that gives it a fair share of pop sensibility. However, if you’re familiar with the group, you’ll know their song structures stray from predictable and that’s certainly the case and the track oscillates from certainly-going-to-be-stuck-in-your-head to mosh-pit-inducing.… Continued →

California based melodic punk band, Craig’s Brother, a band of which has been playing together in one form or another for over 2 decades now will return with a new Ep titled “Devils in the Details”. While musically influenced by Oxymoron, The Damned, and Black Flag, CPR has a unique street punk sound that sets itself apart. Said lead singer Jet Wilson: “Don’t write music to please the crowd. Altar Boys have just announced a very special reunion gig and album release show for their long awaited new album “No Substitute”. The show will take place September 16th 2018 at House of Blues Anaheim with Crumbacher opening. Tickets and info can be found here. I really have to draw attention to one of the most excellent acoustic pop-punk “cover” tracks done in recent memory. Sef Idle has been playing for years fronting and playing guitar for bands like uniSEF and False Idle but has recently come forward as a skilled acoustic-punk singer/songwriter. Sef Idle just released “Someday, Today” back in May and it is a fitting reminder of how raw, natural talent can captivate the listener. It’s not that often that you hear a Christian singer/songwriter in this genre be so overwhelmingly effective with honesty and conviction, letting the music do the talking through words and song.… Continued →
