One of our music scene’s best kept secrets is the band The Prayer Chain. They released their final full length in 1995 to much critical acclaim but at the time I’m sure it slipped under everyone’s radars. Well that now “classic” album “Mercury”, is available once again via all digital networks and streaming sites. I’ll be streaming it myself from Spotify today! I somehow missed this album and any news about it earlier this year. I had just discovered some recent songs from the album, “Dancing In The Fire” by former Delirious? frontman – Martin Smith a few weeks ago and just had to share. I am going to take a moment and introduce you all to a brand new band featuring C. Martin who is the son of Jason Martin (and also a current member) of Starflyer 59. The new band is called “The Rocky Valentines”. The debut single “Off & On” will debut on August 19th via Velvet Blue Music with the full Self Titled EP out on September 2nd 2022. Incredible news just dropped concerning two classic acts that existed throughout the 90’s, are back! MorZan which is the combination of Mortal and Fold Zandura and featuring the same 2 songwriters/composers/singers/musicians (Jyro and Jerome) that were behind all those now classic albums from both groups. I’d like to shed new light on this recent new song from Names Without Numbers. The song is called “You Do The Talking” and it’s hard to argue that this isn’t the BEST song the band has done. The band without a doubt have a diverse sound yet are extremely melodic, with precise attention pointed toward addictive melodies, and unforgettable harmonies. They are an alt-rock band with indie roots clearly showing, not afraid to shy away from a certain pop like influence. They straddle the line between the raw, unfiltered power of a rock band set to storm the stage with power and fury, and a band clearly wearing their pop side on their sleeves.… Continued →

In what may seem like a surprising move, a band that got their start with their debut record in 1997 – “Caedmon’s Call“, who inspired many and wowed fans across the globe with their original blend of music and lyrics, are teasing something BIG. Empty Atlas have announced that Eric Mattson of the long running band – Makeshift3, has joined the indie act – Empty Atlas, as their 2nd “Jr” drummer. He will be contributing cowbell, tambourine, congas, and some maracas. Even some steel drum will be added to the impressive band’s new sound. The Juliana Theory return with a brand new song and news of an ep that’ll drop in May through Equal Vision Records. Check out the new song “Playback ’99 (Burn The Cassette Deck)” below. Stairwell, a band I’ve been a long time fan of and known for 2 amazing albums, “Pacific Standard Time”, and “The Sounds of Change” which both came released on Takehold Records (Hopeless Records picked up the final record and re-released it), just announced their reunion and lineup. Names Without Numbers return with their first NEW song of 2022. The song is titled “You Do The Talking” and it deals with issues of self doubt, social anxiety, and maintaining confidence while attempting to stay strong and dealing through the emotions. It’s a powerful track not just for subject matter but also because the music is some of the best out there. This is my 25th anniversary tribute to albums that released during the year of 1996 (and/or presumed to have released during this particular year). It was a monumental year in underground, indie music and one that was ignited by artists sharing a similar Christian Faith.
