It is honest, beautiful in sound, and all together engaging on a deep spiritual level. Seth Davey, a former member of the late great post-hardcore/indie band, Attalus, has returned with another collection of songs under his name, this one titled “Hymns in Hindsight”. He has launched a new kickstarter here and will be donating 1/2 the money rasied on kickstarter to Ashe County, North Carolina relief efforts which has been devastated by Hurricane Helene a few weeks ago and of which he shares a common story with the people and land there. I stumbled upon this really unique and different sounding “worship” oriented music, hymnal focused group out of Scotland called, “Celtic Worship“. Don’t let the cliché Scottish name fool you, this is uplifting, inspiring, and played with a strong sense of passion, driven by quality musicianship. The vocals are soaring and the instrumentation is out of this world. I received a press release a few weeks back and like with many I just wrote it off as more of the same. Well friends, I am turning a corner (finally) and beginning to heal from a bad illness. I got hit hard with really bad pneumonia, and a sinus infection. I’ve been pretty much confined to my home for 8 days now because I was too ill to do much else. I hate being sick. Anyway, I found this song version of “Amazing Grace” by the much loved indie act – Sleeping At Last, to be a beautiful rendition that deserves much praise and adoration. I know this song has been covered a gazillion times but this classic got a simple, yet carefully composed arrangement centered around a soothing voice and his piano.… Continued →
