The pop-punk duo known as “Homeplate” are returning after just a few months from the release of their incredible debut EP, “Derby City”, to record MORE NEW MUSIC. Homeplate dropped their debut ep “Derby City” last Friday and it seems to be garnering quite some interest. Check out another song off this Ep titled “I Need Grace” which is a lot more straight forward than other relationship type faith innuendo tracks. The Simple Plan meets old Hawk Nelson sound of this song and acoustic guitar strumming beginning is sure to make a fan out of any pop-punk follower of the early 00’s. So a few months back, a Christian deathcore/hardcore band from Matamoros, Mexico took the scene by storm with their message of faith, hope, and love that comes through Christ our Saviour. Punk rock and pizza are similar in more ways than one. While the two can complement each other quite well, music – like food – requires a recipe. Unfortunately, Young Poet’s Thrive in a Modern Era tastes more like a dubious experiment than a well-made pizza pie. Opening song “Alizaren,” catches me completely by surprise with the spoken word akin to Being As An Ocean or Listener. I thought this was pop punk?
