Song of the Day: Hearken - Filthy Rags

I do these song of the days to hopefully spread the Christian music that I like  & have accumulated out into this big world. Some of this music has almost been buried into obscurity as such as this band Hearken. They are a Texan death metal band. Here’s the Bible passage where the lyrics come from. Isaiah 64:6-7 KJV But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Crimson Thorn - Beaten Beyond

Crimson Thorn is one of the earliest Christian death metal bands. I remember their first album & was introduced to a preacher & Your Carcass. This SOTD is incredibly heavy & one of my fave loud songs of all time. Also am stoked I was able to hang out with Luke Renno who is a pretty friendly guy & was at the album release of his current band Taking the Head of Goliath a few years back. Pic is me with Luke. Krig - Tribute II

Krig is a Brazilian band with obvious death metal tendencies. They have been around since 2007 & have released a few albums including now 2 cover LPs . The production is stellar for death metal projects imho. I happened to stumble upon this today & am digging their take on classics from Bloodgood, Megadeth, Messiah Prophet, Trouble & one of my fave bands of all time (lyrically & musically), Tourniquet. The song Ark of Suffering actually was banned by MTV back in the day. The song features Karl Walfridsson who is Pantrokrator’s vocalist.… Continued →

10 Essential Christian thrash albums that you MUST hear before you die

I don’t know what you think of when you hear the term “heavy metal” or more specifically “Christian metal.” Do you think of spandex or goat heads? Hairspray and makeup or the devil? Fortunately for the bands in this list, none of those things are really the issue. I started getting in underground music somewhere around 1988. (Yes, I’m old.) I started out listening to mainstream Christian rock like Petra and Russ Taff, then got into heavier stuff like Whitecross, Sacred Warrior and Jerusalem. And then .… Continued →

Broken Flesh has decided to add on Death List and Obliteration Guitarist Bryan Nikkel as a new Bassist. The band went through some lineup struggles last year, with the departure of brother Jacob and Josh Mathes, the band’s vocalist and bassist, and Guitarist Dakota Whiteside. The band would then add on Bassist Kyle Fitzgerald. The band would announce that Kyle was departing from the band due to family reasons. They would then add on Bryan Nikkel, who had played with founding Guitarist and Vocalist Kevin Tubby in Death List and Obliteration.… Continued →

Soul Embraced: New/Old Member and Shows

The death metal band Soul Embraced has come out of their hiatus and are making a new album. Today the band announced they were doing shows and put out a post asking where fans would want to see them next. Former Bassist Jeff Bowie has also announced that he has rejoined the band and is pulling “double duties”, with Soul Embraced’s labelmates Becoming Saints. So with that, I think it’s safe to assume that Jon Dunn of Demon Hunter is no longer apart of the band.… Continued →

REVIEW : Taking the Head of Goliath - Beyond Brutal Live

How many live EPs do you have? Cause you’ll want this one. Undead Metal (for those who don’t know what that means, it’s my play on Christian death metal) band, Taking the Head of Goliath has released a great live recording of their first show; the first show of one band and one of the last for the band For Today. “The Expulsion of Putrid Illusion” reminded me of Abated Mass of Flesh, with brutal-ness of the guitars, the speed of the drums and the guttural vocals.… Continued →

Rottweiler Records Announces 2nd New Band: O Wretched Man

Second band, day after. Just as I predicted. Anyways, Rottweiler has a new band, O Wretched One. They are said to sound like Fleshgod Apocalypse, Cradle of Filth, and Dimmu Borgir. The band is from Wisconsin and formed in 2009. The band was featured on the Christian Deathcore comps a few times if I’m correct. The band has a new song for download called “Awaken the Warrior”. Check it out!

Symphony of Heaven releases "Stratagem"

You most likely have never heard of Symphony of Heaven as it is a brand new band. Logan Thompson is the one-man band that is Symphony in Heaven. He has an instrumental called “Anno Domini” that is great. SOH released a song titled “Stratagem” that is primarily power metal styled up until the vocals come in. Pure death metal gutturals. It’s like Lightforce (pre-Mortification) and Mortification put together. The song is incredible. Go check it out here! Continued →

The band formed in 2006 as a sixpiece, one vocalist, one drummer, one bassist, and three guitarists.… Continued →

Demoniciduth started in Sweden with Taanak (Bass, Vocals) and a few others. The band has settled on the lineup of Taanak, Lord Ekkletus (Guitars, BGV), Sir Krino (Drums). In Darkest Dreams (ex-Broken Flesh) Release "The Vanishing"

Christian death metal musician Ricky Puckett has a new project called In Darkest Dreams. On September 9, 2016, Puckett released the album digitally and on September 16 the physical copies were released. In Darkest Dreams is not like Puckett’s former band, Broken Flesh, a Christian slamming death metal band from Oklahoma. The band is more of the Gothic side of Death metal, rather than a Broken Flesh style. The album was released independently via Bandcamp for $8. Download it here. Continued →
