The Mandalorian Season 3 x Indie Vision Music Discussion Thread

By in Articles, News | No Comments

I’m going to try something new here for a bit. We love discussing music and trying to stay (somewhat) updated on the latest happenings in our realm of independent Christian music but, so many of us also share a common thread of partaking in other forms of entertainment such as films, comics, arts, etc. so what better way to start it off than a discussion about the latest season of The Mandalorian. This was written before I made it to this last final episode of Season 3 so bare with me. Tonight I will partake in the finale. Read all the way to the bottom but I warn you about spoilers. I have viewed all 3 episodes of this season so far (finished 3rd one last night) and I guess it’s safe to say that I’m in it to win it! I have refrained from going online to read other dumb people’s opinions because after all, they are just opinions. Apparently, some likeminded opinions tend to travel like infectious diseases, so I’ll keep it negativity free and keep from joining the masses of young influencers holding hands ready to take a leap off that cliff (more clicks yay!).

Without giving too much away about this season let me say that the amount of attention to detail from the graphic art to cinematography, to the acting, and music, this season sets up a precedent that will be tough for any other TV Series on the planet to meet in terms of quality. I love the locales of certain planets (spoiler free) and Mandalore itself (oops, spoiler). The special effects are mind blowing and the visuals are as engaging as anything I’ve ever seen in a theatrical release. To say I’m entertained is an understatement. I don’t think I even blinked or exhaled for a couple scenes. I was literally on the edge of my seat, tuning out each and every environmental distraction at home.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is the next natural progression from the past 2 seasons but more of an emphasis on quality and presentation. Watching this season, there really is no difference between this show and something you’d pay $$$ to go see in a theater squeezed next to the popcorn and candy guy who accidentally just wiped his buttery fingers on your pants. The nice thing about home streaming is that you can literally pause, rewind, ffwd, without annoying anyone and take a bathroom break at any time.

These episodes are really unlike any TV Show I’ve ever seen. This is an event like no other. I used to feel that way about LOST, 24, Heroes, Chuck, Fringe, Homeland, etc that would generate such interest that you would be checking your calendar (or a watch like in the ancient days of old) daily for when that next episode would come on.

Overall, these new episodes are the best in TV Home Streaming Entertainment and probably the best of the best on Disney+. In fact, I have loved all the Star Wars based shows for different reasons. They are all a bit different from each other and can appeal across the board to anyone regardless of who they are. I’ve only watched 1 complete Marvel series all the way through and got bored with the others. This is a whole different kind of beast.

1. The Mandalorian 3
2. Andor
3. Mandalorian 2
4. Mandalorian 1
5. Obi Wan Kenobi
6. Book of Boba Fett

Pros:
Stunning Visual Effects including ships, and other land and air vehicles.
Graphic Design, Out of This World
Character building
Creature Creation including but not limited to puppetry, robotic, android, alien, animal based
Incredible Music and Sounds (editing/production)
Costume design
Grogu rules and cannot be discounted for his mighty force powers
Jawas are cool

Cons:
One planet not as impressive as I would have wished
One episode and repeated lines brought to mind “The Mines of Moria” from Lord of the Rings series 😉
So I guess helmet will be a thing throughout season 3?
Need more time on Tatooine with repairs and equipment needs
Jack Black and Lizzo were goofy additions but added to the humor of that episode. A side story departure but still fit in to the storyline. Christopher Lloyd is a legend and where we’re going, we don’t need roads…..

If you’ve watched any of this season’s episodes then you know that is this massive back story and build up toward showing the back street deals of remaining empire sympathizers and their efforts into bringing about a new order. You’ll hear talk about cloning, the empire, and some devious plans that turn out not to go the way one of the characters intended. I’m already slightly wondering if the whole build up of Season 3 and probably future seasons (if there are some) is about the rise of the first order. I mean this show takes place after Return of the Jedi but before Force Awakens. There is a 30 year gap between those two big films and I’m sure this show falls somewhere in the middle of that range. So, will the First Order rise from the events in Mandalorian? The emperor was big on cloning apparently if you were to believe the subject matter in Episode 9. Now, I prepare myself for the season finale….
