Well, we just returned from a wild week at Great Wolf Lodge here locally in So Cal. We spent countless days at the water park and even Knott’s Berry Farm as well as spending precious time with my wife and children. We even had our oldest son Brayden stop by for a bit on last Thursday. Overall, was a great time spent with family and unforgettable memories were had. My wallet still aches but well, what did I expect lol. I have some pics/vids up on my private Instagram so check it.… Continued →
Radical Radical Release 3rd Song, "I'm Not Ok, and That's Ok"
This is a truly exciting and mood stimulating new music project from Adam Lohrbach formerly of pop-punk kings, Home Grown. Radical Radical has now grown to be an official band with 4 members and played their first live show a few weeks ago to a very enthusiastic crowd here in Southern California. The band just released their latest song, the 3rd one so far in 2021 for those keeping track. The song is titled “I’m Not OK, and That’s OK”, which most definitely has an honest, open, and hopeful viewpoint expressed through some great emo/pop-punk.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Between Thieves - The Spring
A rock song about baptism is what this SOTD is referencing. And you can’t go wrong with that. Between Thieves were on the same record label as Common Children. It was hard to choose between this one & Kindle so hope you like this one.

Song of the Day: The Choir - Gripped
One of the longest-running indie/alternative bands in the Christian scene, The Choir emerged in the 1980s initially as Youth Choir, shortening the name after the release of one album and one EP. The band formed in 1983 and were instrumental in the early 80s Calvary Chapel scene in Southern California, that also included stalwarts like Undercover, Altar Boys, and 4-4-1.
Where some of their counterparts flirted with punk and harder alternative sounds, The Choir’s sound rarely ‘rocked’ so much as it created atmospheres and layers that have never been easily pigeonholed into any particular scene or sound and yet have toyed with dream pop, indie pop, and at times even shoegaze.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Love Coma - Astronaut
Chris Taylor is a mainstay in the music industry. He started off on vocals for this band that also consisted of Matt Slocum who would go on to work with Sixpence None The Richer. Texan Love Coma was indeed an alternative rock band when the term meant something. They released 2 LPs (Soul Rash & Language Of Fools) in the 90s before Chris went solo. They ended up releasing another back last year in 2020, but I did not see much recognition from the release. If you like this song check out my other faves Heart Wide Open & Entertainment Tonight.… Continued →

Song of the Day: X-Sinner - Living On The Edge
This is one of my favorite rock songs of the 80s. X-Sinner’s sound was akin to ACDC or Def Leppard soundalike, but that doesn’t mean they were a clone of either mainstream band. They had an area rock sound w/ a blues twist. Check out others by them that are a must have for any classic Christian rock playlist: Medicine, Walking Evil, Don’t Go, Lift Him Up or Accountable. TBH I did not care much for their later stuff after their first 2 LPs. To me this somber SOTD hits with a punch & probably always will.… Continued →

TAKE Release Brand New Album "Power Trip"
The band TAKE, from Las Vegas, Nevada are back with a brand new album titled “Power Trip”. The album is a trip down a familiar path while retaining the heaviness and originality the band has become known for. This isn’t the typical, this isn’t mundane and this certainly is not boring. It’s a heavy album but not consisting of that same cookie cutter style everyone is going for. Brings to mind bands like The Warriors, Pantera, Living Sacrifice, Every Time I Die, and really closing the divide between all the diverse sounds of heavy bands you know and love.… Continued →

Phinehas Provide a Little Metal Relief From Reality
Getting your mind off world events, Covid and all variant insanity, the heat of summer, well then might I suggest some guitar heavy music from Phinehas to drown out the noise? Phinehas, a band I’ve been a fan of since right before they joined their first record label like 15 years ago, are back in an absolutely incredible manner. Their brand of metal(core) has been missed and this new song “In The Night” is certainly no exception to their greatness. The band’s new album “The Fire Itself” is out August 27th on Solid State Records and you can pre-order here.… Continued →
The Blamed Re-Recording Landmark Debut Record, "21"
Legendary masters of punk-thrash-metal – The Blamed, are going to re-record their landmark, classic album from 1994 called “21”. This debut was really great back when I first heard it and reminded me why I love/loved punk rock. It was like a garage-y, underground sounding album that evoked immediate love for the live experience and sweat drenched, basement worthy punk shows. Even though many of us didn’t venture into that scene as much as others, just hearing a record like this brought to mind what it must have been like.… Continued →

Pennylane Concert Footage from 2006
I also found this old concert footage of the band Pennylane performing at Kauai Christian Fellowship in Poipu, Kauai in the great state of Hawaii. This is also a short segment and I believe my camera died which is why I didn’t film it all or something (memory is foggy). Anyway, check out this long lost fragment of Pennylane in a time long since past, and enjoy what you see. Sound is not good FYI and it was a small room with bass overflowing and drowning out the rest of sounds.… Continued →
Unashamed and Strongarm Concert Footage from 1995
I dug this old VHS tape out of the deepest cavern of Pre-Indie Vision Music archives that I could search through. This old tape was converted to digital (Digitized) by a company called imemories out of Arizona. I love their services and they’ve done a tremendous job so far. Anyway, check out this really old concert footage of the bands Unashamed and Strongarm from 1995 at a Church in Capo Beach California (Dana Point) called “Capo Beach Calvary Chapel”. I was 17 years old at the time and holding my parents VHS camcorder.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Number One Gun - Forest
California’s Number One Gun started as a full band, but over the years became a solo project for vocalist Jeff Schneeweis. I remember their songs On & On & You Fail Sometimes back in the day & knew this was good music. Bands like Anberlin & Project 86 ruled the Christian “radio” waves back then. Jeff also does some catchy solo stuff so check him out. This song is so darn catchy & reminds me of a yearning to get back right. Also added a live version.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Last Day Rising - Leave It All Behind
Last Day Rising is an actual rock band from LA whose 4 band members released one S/T EP back in 2015. This SOTD is very catchy & IU had the chance to communicate with one of the band members on social media right when this song was released. The lyrics below remind me of a person’s desperate cry to God for help to change from sin & their need for YHWH’s help. Very encouraging at least to me.
I’ve fallen apart
I’m out of control and I wonder
How I lost my mind
Feel all of my scars
From battles forgotten
I am falling down
I’ve been here once or twice
Or maybe a thousand times before
I’m tired of all your lies
It’s time to set on fire
What’s left of this wasted life
And let the fire burn bright
I’m no longer blind
I’ll open up my eyes and see the light
And let it take me away
I’m not gonna wait until tomorrow
I can leave it all behind
And this time around
I’m hoping I’m not too far gone
Cause I’m barely holding on
Buried into the ground
Trying to escape the
Thoughts that hold me down
I’ve come to realize
There’s nothing left for me
Here to carry on
And I’m tired of all your lies
It’s time to set on fire
What’s left of this wasted life
And let the fire burn bright
I’m no longer blind
I’ll open up my eyes and see the light
And let it take me away
I’m not gonna wait until tomorrow
I can leave it all behind

Playlist: 21 for 21 in 21
I decided to celebrate Indie Vision Music’s 21st anniversary with a new playlist. I picked 21 new songs from 21 of my favorite female solo artists to create the playlist. You’ll find a variety styles here, from well-known artists like Madison Cunningham and Lacey Sturm to lesser-known artists like Tenielle Neda and Abby Holliday—because you know that’s just how we do it here at IVM.

IVM 21: No Lost Cause - Take 2 (Full Album Stream)
In honor of our country’s independence and a day of mass country-wide celebrations, I thought it would be appropriate to share a very special new album that Thumper Punk Records is releasing next week by the ska-punk project, NO LOST CAUSE. It is special in that very few “Christian” bands are even playing this style of music and even fewer can play it as good as this sounds. “Take 2” is a full length record comprised of new and old songs from the NLC catalog all reworked/remixed and with added horn sections to make these songs sound so much more incredible than they did in the past.… Continued →
