REVIEW : Theory Hazit - IT'S WHATEVER

A member of the mighty Scribbling Idiots crew, Theory Hazit has an impressive discography to his name. He’s the artist behind underground classics like Extra Credit, Thr3e (produced by DertBeats), and Fall of the Light Bearer. If you’re familiar with his work, you already know he’s an incredible emcee. But sometimes words don’t suffice and you just have to let the music speak for itself; this is what he does on his first beat tape of 2017. In usual beat tape fashion, there are a lot of tracks to choose from.… Continued →

The quiet has ended with the announce of their 5th full length album titled ‘How To Be Human’ on BC Records. The LP will feature 12 songs that are reportedly in the vein of Death Cab For Cutie mixed with Motion City Soundtrack. Till You're All I See - Seth Davey

REVIEW : Till You're All I See - Seth Davey

Prior to 2015’s stunning Into the Sea, Attalus was a fairly unknown. Fronted by Seth Davey, vocalist, pianist, and lyricist, this Facedown debut made plenty best-of-the-year lists. Though Davey has since amicably parted with the band, he has nonetheless kept up with musical endeavors which come to fruition in his debut solo album, Till You’re All I See. While this isn’t an Attalus record by any means, it’s hard to overlook the common elements. Davey again brings lyrical brilliance, this time in a more bare and vulnerable manner with naught more than piano to complement his vocals.… Continued →

INTERVIEW : Sam DeBurgh of Slow Bullet

The music of Slow Bullet is vibrant yet vulnerable, revealing but masked, gently melodic and loud. Sam DeBurgh explains how his music can be totally contradictory and incredibly unique. Dave Hawkins: Thanks for coming for a talk Sam. Sam DeBurgh: Yeah. Thanks for having me. Dave: The name Slow Bullet is new label for you, since you used to go by Spider Mansion. It’s sort of like you moved from Halloween to The Matrix. Sam: Yes, indeed! You’re not wrong. Dave: Why the switch? Sam: I started Spider Mansion when I was 17 years old and now, putting out my first LP on a label, there was a need for a restart, a rebranding, if you want to call it that.… Continued →

Anberlin's "Cities" Ten Years Later

It’s been ten years since Anberlin released their third record, Cities, on February 20th, 2007 through Tooth & Nail RecordsCities is widely regarded as the Florida band’s finest release and for good reason. Their first two records offered a strong start for the group and showcased an increasing realization of their potential. Cities is simply where it all seemed to come together. The album highlights are almost too numerous to list. The record contains high energy rockers such as “Godspeed” and “Adelaide”, quiet, heartfelt numbers in “The Unwinding Cable Car” and “Inevitable”, mid-tempo songs like “Alexithymia” and “Dismantle.… Continued →

REVIEW : Taking the Head of Goliath - Beyond Brutal Live

How many live EPs do you have? Cause you’ll want this one. Undead Metal (for those who don’t know what that means, it’s my play on Christian death metal) band, Taking the Head of Goliath has released a great live recording of their first show; the first show of one band and one of the last for the band For Today. “The Expulsion of Putrid Illusion” reminded me of Abated Mass of Flesh, with brutal-ness of the guitars, the speed of the drums and the guttural vocals.… Continued →
