Astillian - Cloudburst

By in Lyric Videos, News | 4 Comments

I present to you the lyric video for the new track “Cloudburst” from melodic death metal act, Astillian. This band features former members of Afterimage, another band we talked about tons back in the day. Please check out Astillian and listen/watch their lyric video below.

Chicago based melodic death metal band, Âstillian, are releasing the lyric video for “Cloudburst,” the first single from the upcoming album “Waves at Dusk”. Born from Chicago melodic metal veterans, Âstillian began to cast a vision for the Dark Age inspired metal project in late 2016. Cloudburst features blisteringly fast riffage and aggressive, chantable vocals set to the visuals of perilous ocean torrents. Âstillian’s forthcoming full length album, Waves at Dusk, is set for release before the year’s end.

Waves at Dusk is a concept album inspired by G.K. Chesterton’s epic tale, “The Ballad of the White Horse,” other Anglo-Saxon writings, and Norse sagas. With Waves at Dusk, Âstillian captures the inescapable misery and undeniable hope of the early middle ages; raiding hordes, mass migrations, and kingdoms rising through the discord. The album features a hardwood Anglo-Saxon lyre and other folk instruments alongside a three-pronged electric guitar assault and viscerally blasted rhythms. The album also features a Saxon war cry historically used on the battlefield against the vikings. With “Cloudburst,” Âstillian unleashes the melodic death metal voice of the Saxon’s rage.

I like what I’ve heard so far, so I’m looking forward to the album. I wasn’t familiar with Afterimage, so I went back to check out their music. I’m glad I did.

This is a great song. I can’t wait for the album. If you like this you need to check out Woe of Tyrants, Hope for the Dying, The Burial and Immortal Souls!!
