Chaotic hardcore project Pipe Bomb have announced a new single, “I Will Kill the Worst Parts of Myself.” Fresh off the heels of its three previous single releases, Philadelphia chaotic metalcore band Pipe Bomb is dropping one final stand-alone song called “I Will Kill The Worst Parts Of Myself” on January 27th, 2026, in support of its upcoming 10-song album, Hell Hole. Everdown was a hardcore band from New Hampshire, active in the mid-90s, but their roots were in earlier versions of the band like Crawlspace (who recently had their material re-issued by The Charon Collective) and Dry Bones. Unlike their counterparts from southern California or New York City, Everdown incorporated other influences into their music like post-hardcore and even sludge. Perhaps it was their New England location, or maybe they were simply influenced by a different scene, but with unusual arrangements (for hardcore), and song lengths at times over 7 minutes, their take on hardcore was certainly unique in the Christian scene.… Continued →

Many of you will already be aware of the deep credentials held by Teeth for Eyes: members have played in Cicero, Empty Tomb, Godspeed, Crux, Government Hate Mail and many more. Naming these connections is both helpful and problematic. Sure, it tells us that the band members are seasoned veterans of the punk/indie scene, but how much does it tell us about the current music? It’s Holy Week, the most important season in the church calendar, so it’s important to celebrate everything Jesus did for us, displaying his love through the ultimate sacrifice on the cross. When it comes to music, it seems that the metal bands give us the most material when to comes to focusing on the passion events. Sacrament was a super-heavy thrash metal band from Pennsylvania. They formed in 1989, and played a style of thrash that was at times much closer to death metal. Fighting Jacks began working on the follow up to their Tooth & Nail Records debut “The Dying Art of Life”, in 2014. The band self-released the album titled “Decade” in 2017 and just got the re-release treatment last month. Head to their bandcamp to check it out and then purchase. This punk rock supergroup features ex-members of Crux, Empty Tomb, Cicero, and Gov’t Hate Mail. So you can see why I was excited about hearing this disc. The EP contains 7 songs, clocks in around 17 minutes, and comes as a pro-CDr in a standard jewel case with a single panel insert with credits and no lyrics. Musically what we have here is no frills punk rock and roll. It’s not quite as spastic as Crux, and doesn’t have the hardcore/thrash leanings of Empty Tomb. When comparing to its members previous projects, it’s probably closest to Gov’t Hate Mail, but just slightly heavier than that project.… Continued →

This nu metal band released some decent music in their 2001 release Stare. They fell off the music radar after they released a couple songs on some compilations. A new band I’d like to introduce is called Binder of Light. Its a new band featuring members of Stairwell, Bloodshed, Unashamed, Rainy Days, and more. The band just got picked up by The Charon Collective which is a newer label started by one of of the founders of Pluto Records. Redline is a grunge/post hardcore band from the 90s that changed their name to Echocast then to Ironside & now to The Ironside Collective. I think I saw them live right as they changed to Echocast. A really cool sorta new indie rock/emo band by the name of “Marca” which features a member of Living Sacrifice and Eso Charis, just dropped a new song titled “1492” which you can listen to below. New independent metal label The Charon Collective have recently re-issued Pennsylvania band Sacrament’s debut demo Presumed Dead on CD and digital formats. The death/thrash metal band went on release two full-lengths, seminal death metal release Testimony of Apocalypse and technical thrash beast Haunts of Violence. The re-issue is accompanied by the news that former Sacrament members have re-formed as Testimony of Apocalypse, and are writing new material for a future release. Testimony of Apocalypse are an insane new metal band featuring members of classic Thrash Metal band, Sacrament. While members of Sacrament await their potential reunion in the future, a couple members got together and have pursued this really great new project called Testimony of Apocalypse, which is actually named after the Sacrament album of the same name.
