Benjamin Daniel is a new artist i’d like to introduce you all to. His music beautiful new song “Shaping Season” and purely magnificent in every mention of the word, is now streaming below. Benjamin is currently working on new recordings and this is one of his first to feature. This 5 minute and 30 sec epic song takes the listener on a journey through unshakable emotion, piercing sadness, unmistakable hope, and the redemption that shines through it all. I’m a tough one to be swayed by new solo independent music but there is something truly amazing about this debut track and something awe inspiring. You might remember Benjamin as a contributor here at IVM and an avid listener of great music. Check out the song “Shaping Season”, below.

I’d like to point our readers in the direction of this really great new project from Ray Torres called “Forum Blue”. Ray has been a tremendously talented young guy who released prior projects as “Ray Torres & The Mercy” and under his name (solo). Now he is back with more songs as Forum Blue and you can take a listen to these “home demos” right here on bandcamp (or listen below). Think Dashboard Confessional, Secondhand Serenade, Vocal Few, Hall & Oates, etc. A soulful singer with a powerful voice. If you can find his previous releases, you’re in for a real treat. Then go and spin these great songs. I’m looking forward to hearing how the songwriting progresses on future releases.

Arthur Alligood is an artist I’ve followed for many years. From his independent work as solo musician all the way up to “One Silver Needle” in 2012 which was one of my favorites and a critically acclaimed, under the radar HIT. If you don’t know who Arthur Alligood is and you’re just casually browsing IVM then please drop what you’re doing an listen to the full length album right here (or on iTunes & Spotify). Then head over to this link here and preorder the new ep (1st in a 4 ep series due in 2018).

An alternative-folk artist we have discussed at great length right here on IVM with a few of his prior releases getting the review treatment plus features and all that jazz: Besides Daniel, is trying to release his next full album titled “I Love You Hillside”. Please visit this link here and consider becoming a part of this album process.
A super cool, HOT track called “Hope Lives Here” by the duo Leo & Meagan Flores which features up and coming hip hop artist, Lil Dre, laying down rhymes on this catchy Christ centered song. This kind of message is what the world needs most right now especially in times of profound hatred and brokenness. Check out the song via our soundcloud page below.

Indie Pop singer/songwriter, Jess Penner, will release her new ep titled “Imagination” on August 11th through Position Music/Recurrent Records. This laid back collection of tunes for the whole family is ripe with electro pop-folk and will inspire joy not only in youngsters but adults alike. I’ve followed Jess Penner’s music since she was a part of the Hawaii based alt rock band Spooky Tuesday way back in the 90s. She has continued to produce positive, uplifting indie focused pop music for the past few decades through groups like Chandelle, We Cry Diamonds, Kayjez, and her much adored solo work. If you’ve never heard of Jess Penner before, look up her albums on Spotify (streaming below) and make sure to check out this new ep on August 11th.

I’d like to take a moment and introduce you readers to the talented sounds of female singer-songwriter Norelle K (ZAP Records). This gifted songstress just released her debut 3 song ep titled “Consider the Trees” through ZAP Records this week. Think of a cool combination of Bjork meets Alanis Morrisette meets Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries). Songs are spiritual in nature but not along the CCM lines. This is independent music meant to be enjoyed by the vast amount of masses regardless of personal taste. Simple acoustic guitar oriented songs by a woman with talent and a smooth commanding voice. You can check out the 3 song ep below and make sure to purchase on bandcamp here.

Prior to 2015’s stunning Into the Sea, Attalus was a fairly unknown. Fronted by Seth Davey, vocalist, pianist, and lyricist, this Facedown debut made plenty best-of-the-year lists. Though Davey has since amicably parted with the band, he has nonetheless kept up with musical endeavors which come to fruition in his debut solo album, Till You’re All I See. Continued →
