Skillet dropped a new music video today for the single, “Save Me”. One of the heavier, grittier tunes off the band’s most recent release, “Victorious”, the video for “Save Me” was recorded while the band was on tour in Los Angeles. About “Save Me,” John Cooper stated, “This song is about the darker side of you that you are afraid to show people. ‘If they only knew how messed up I am, would they still love me?’ This song is about getting honest and asking for help, both spiritually and naturally speaking.… Continued →

Today, Then It Ends released a new single called, “Rescue Me”. The project from Grant Lilly (formerly from A Past Unknown) has shown a bit of musical diversity with each release, from heavy metalcore sounds to parts that are a bit more melodic. HEAVY METAL, Dudes! Despite popular opinions and clearly showing my lack of “scene cred”, I instantly connected with The Showdown “Temptation Come My Way” album back in 2007/2008 and haven’t changed my opinion since. David’s grit-filled voice is front and center just the way a good heavy metal band should be on the song, “We Die Young”. Well produced and placed instrumentation, with soaring vocal harmonies that really take this album completely over the top. It’s like that perfect combo of 80’s hard rock meets metal and 90’s era Metallica (Black album), solos and everything.… Continued →

Last week, Earth Groans announced the release of their upcoming ep, “Prettiest of Things”, which will drop on March 6th on Solid State Records, so you don’t have long to wait. A personal fave of mine, a band we call Switchfoot is joining up with world renown Canadian rock band Nickelback and California based grunge-alt-rock band, Stone Temple Pilots (STP) for a run of dates this summer/fall. This might just an epic rock extravaganza or How You Remind Me of a cringe worthy PHOTOGRAPH? Either way, there is a little something for everyone and a true rock n’ roll fan to enjoy. First of all, Furnace Fest will make a return in 2020 with an as yet to be determined/announced lineup….except in the case of BELOVED. Yep, the highly underrated Solid State Records band who released an Ep and Full length on Solid State Records (plus some other indie recordings pre-Solid State) before calling it quits with a few members joining other bands like Advent and The Almost (among others), IS BACK and ready to rock your faces off. It wasn’t long ago that GFM announced an acoustic ep, set for release on December 1st. With the release date being just about a week out, I thought I’d tap out a quick review on it. I was fortunate enough to have caught the band’s recent show at the Space Coast State Fair in Melbourne, FL. The show was great and sitting right there on the merch table were copies of the acoustic ep, available a few weeks ahead of the scheduled release date. It’s late October and I’m walking through Disney Springs in Orlando, FL to the House of Blues for the Victorious War tour featuring Alter Bridge and Skillet. It’s the second of two nights the tour is here and the last night of the tour altogether. I make my way through a shoulder to shoulder crowd trying to find anywhere I can stand and have a decent view without ruining someone else’s. Being 6’4” I ruin the view of most people I stand in front of. Crazy enough, there’s a spot I find that’s almost as if it was just waiting for me; back of the room (so I’m not directly in front of anyone), yet only 30 or so feet from the stage.… Continued →
