I don’t know how many of you out there have had a chance to check out the metal band Parallels out of Tennessee, but do yourself a favor and go listen to them.  They are definitely an under the radar band that has a bright future ahead of them. They put out a good EP earlier in 2010 called Depths.  Today they are releasing a three-song demo on iTunes titled First Mover –EP.  On Depths, Parallels had more of the traditional melodic metal sound, but they have switched gears on their latest effort and moved to an ambient metal sound.

At first, I was a little disappointed with their change in sound, but upon multiple spins on my iPod, I really started to dig their new material.  It has a much darker feel to it than their first EP and the productions sounds better.  I also hear the maturity and the progressive improvement in their work.  You also will get your money’s worth out of this three-song EP with each track over six minutes and the last track, “First Mover,” weighing in at almost eight and a half minutes.

As far as I know, Depths is only available from Parallels, but you can purchase their latest effort, First Mover – EP, on iTunes.  If you like ambient metal, then this is definitely a band you need to check out.
