Metaphysical Monday: Christian Literature

It seems like all the main brains in Christian theology right now are self-proclaimed Reformed guys.  Preachers and authors such as John Piper, R.C. Sproul, John MacArthur, Francis Chan (sort of), Tim Keller, J.I. Packer, Mark Driscoll (also sort of), and David Platt are all either part of the Reformed tradition or are closely related to that family of theology. Reformed theology can be very controversial, but just to overview the basic emphasis, Reformed theology shoots to unite the modern church with the basic tenants of the Reformation.  … Continued →

Plankeye - B.C.

Today’s Video Flashback is from the band Plankeye and their song “B.C.” off the “Commonwealth” album (1996 Tooth & Nail). “Commonwealth” is still my favorite Plankeye album. Their songwriting was just so great and every song from the Scott Silletta days is a gem. Scott Silletta (Lead Vocals/Guitar) played on 4 Plankeye albums before quitting shortly after the release of their 1997 album “The One and Only”. While “Goodbye” was a beautiful song, not much else matches the intensity and melody that Scott helped capture on the 4 early Plankeye albums.… Continued →

INTERVIEW : Mike Guess

When it comes to the world of Christian Hip Hop, there are a lot of underground Lecraes and Trip Lees that have yet to be discovered. Which brings up rappers that you’ve seen on IVM lately including Yaves, Reconcile, Thi’sl; just to name a few. Check out, Mike Guess. A rapper based out of central Maryland, whom is starting to gardner a lot of attention in the state. He recently just dropped his debut album, Fully Convinced. Below is an interview I had the pleasure of doing with Mike about his music, faith and more.… Continued →

Metaphysical Monday: Great Christian Authors

Christianity has given the world a hefty volume of great authors and books.  Obviously, you’ve got the Holy Bible, which is by far the best-selling book in the world.  And outside of that, you’ve got a rich tradition of the Church producing excellent literature.  Some of it is philosophical, some of it is allegorical fiction, some of it is straight fiction (and sometimes even science fiction), some of it is poetry, some of it is revolutionary ideology aimed at the church and of course, some of it is theology.… Continued →
