Jess Penner to Release "Imagination" Ep August 11th

Indie Pop singer/songwriter, Jess Penner, will release her new ep titled “Imagination” on August 11th through Position Music/Recurrent Records. This laid back collection of tunes for the whole family is ripe with electro pop-folk and will inspire joy not only in youngsters but adults alike. I’ve followed Jess Penner’s music since she was a part of the Hawaii based alt rock band Spooky Tuesday way back in the 90s. She has continued to produce positive, uplifting indie focused pop music for the past few decades through groups like Chandelle, We Cry Diamonds, Kayjez, and her much adored solo work.… Continued →

Ruslan Responds to Shai Linne

Last Friday, Shai Linne released his new album Still Jesus, which kicks off with the track “Random Thoughts 3.” The song addresses, in part, some of Shai’s concerns with Christian hip-hop, especially from the Reach Records collective. Ruslan, formerly of theBREAX and Dream Junkies, has made a response song entitled “Random Thoughts 4 (Shai Linne).” You can stream both of the songs below. The Best of 2007: Favorite Hits From 10 Years Ago

Hey friends it’s that time again, time for another “list”. Feel free to offer up your big Laugh-Out-Louds and smirks for some “hits” I found appealing 10 years ago. A lot of stuff from that year was enjoyed by me, some I am rediscovering, and others were missed opportunities. Check out my “list” below and feel free to listen to the playlist I created on Spotify for this list found in the article. Remember kids, “some” of these releases may not have the best language so if you get queasy at the thought of dirty words from general market (do we still use the word ‘secular’?)… Continued →

INTERVIEW : Phil Chamberlain of To Speak of Wolves

We had a chance to speak with Phil Chamberlain for To Speak of Wolves in preparation of their upcoming album (out TOMORROW). IVM: Hey Phil, thanks for taking some time to talk. 2016 saw the release of “New Bones” on Cardigan Records and “Dead in the Shadow” is coming up quickly. This all follows years of years of silence. How have things changed for the band, be it lineup, personal lives, or musical influences? Phil Chamberlain: We took a few years off to pursue matters in our personal lives so when we got back together in 2016 we kind of exploded out a ton of music in a short amount of time.… Continued →

To Speak of Wolves have been around for ten years and have now released 3 albums on Solid State Records. They are the pure definition of a sleeper band. Those who know them await every release because they know they’ve found a top quality metal band. Now, they’re coming off a thunderous return to the music scene with an EP last year, and a full length on their home label – Solid State Records. The sophomore album Find Your Worth, Come Home was and is an incredible piece of art that should hold a place near the top of Solid State’s most treasured albums.… Continued →

Love & Death recording for New Album

Love & Death, the nu-metal band, have finally started working on new music. And just as I discovered that J.R. Bareis has left Islander, alongside the other two non-original members of Islander, they have begun guitar tracking with ex-Red, current Breaking Benjamin guitarist Jasen Rauch. The band currently consists of Brian Welch on vocals, J.R. on guitars and Dan Johnson on drums. Bassist Michael Valentine departed last year, without any official reason. Bareis and Rauch have begun recording guitars for the album.
