Introducing: floodlit (Videos In Post)

Recently I was given a tip about a new(er) band called floodlit. One of the best tips in recent memory. floodlit is a Los Angeles based post-hardcore/metalcore band, in the vein of Thrice, Defeater, Norman Jean, Deftones, Emery, Saosin, Spiritbox, BMTH, etc. By the band’s description, heavy music for a heavy purpose.   To date, there are two singles titled “AMa” and “AKo” released with accompanying videos (see below). The tracks are a sampling of what’s to come when the band drops their debut album later this year.… Continued →

Cold Streets - Over and Over (New Song + Music Video)

Ok so Small Step Record’s band COLD STREETS just released their brand new song “Over and Over” and it’s one of the best new tracks of 2026! It is so dang catchy, full of soaring melodies and anthemic choruses. It’s just one of those songs you’ll be singing to yourself over and over again (sorry had to do it). Pure 🔥 For context, this is a pop punkish/skate punk inspired track perfect for this incoming spring and summer days and fans of Millencolin, Rise Against, The Starting Line, Over It, MxPx, A Loss for Words, you know, like all the classics, will absolutely fall in love with this band.… Continued →

Lost in Ohio announces two new releases from The Julies for 2026

Fans of indie popsters The Julies have good reason to celebrate. Lost in Ohio (who released Always & Always in 2023, and re-issued the much-loved Love Life on vinyl in 2020) has announced two new releases from the band, both set for February 27th of this year. A brand new full-length will emerge, entitled Cherisher, described as leaning “fully into reflection, memory, and meaning, delivering a deeply personal collection about holding on, on purpose . . . The album draws from shimmering post-punk urgency and ’90s shoegaze-influenced walls of sound, allowing Alex and Pat, both playing multi-instrumentalist these days, a chance to repurpose the past as well.”… Continued →

Song of the Day: Dustt - Moments of Struggle

Chilean band Dustt operate in the doom/stoner metal vein (the genre, not necessarily the lifestyle choice). They have been active at least since 2010, when their debut album Testigos de Dolor first released. An eponymous album followed in 2011, through Martyrdom Records. A remastered version was issued in 2012, as well as another album Refugio the same year. Both of the latter are available for digital download or streaming via Bandcamp (Dustt). I don’t know if the band is still active, but it would be great if they are, as there are not enough faith-oriented bands playing in this style.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Concrete Rubber Band - Hosanna

Our longtime readers will know we try to dig pretty deep into the diversity of what independent Christian music really means. While the connection from psychedelic rock of the 1970s to the indie rock and punk of the 90s and beyond isn’t obvious, it is real nonetheless. Psychedelic rock and acid rock was directly influential on the development of heavy metal, and indirectly on the development of punk rock–even if it was as a reaction to it. One of the best and most iconic artists of the Jesus Music era was Concrete Rubber Band.… Continued →

Pipe Bomb releases new single

Chaotic hardcore project Pipe Bomb have announced a new single, “I Will Kill the Worst Parts of Myself.” Fresh off the heels of its three previous single releases, Philadelphia chaotic metalcore band Pipe Bomb is dropping one final stand-alone song called “I Will Kill The Worst Parts Of Myself” on January 27th, 2026, in support of its upcoming 10-song album, Hell Hole. Mixed and mastered by John Naclario of Nada Recording (My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail), “I Will Kill the Worst Parts of Myself” stays true to the project’s math/metalcore roots, veering away from the chains of song structure and embracing a flair for dissonance.… Continued →

Mutemath Mystery

Just 2 weeks from today will be the 20th anniversary of Mutemath’s self-titled debut album. So, this past week when the band’s profile pic was updated (with no caption), speculation abounded. No announcement has been made at this time, but it sure seems like they have something up their sleeve to celebrate it. What do you think it is? Continued →

25 Years of Indie Vision Music: Blood, Sweat, Tears, and Perseverance

25 Years of Indie Vision Music: Blood, Sweat, Tears, and Perseverance I began this write up back in June of this year and it has taken me more than half the year to finish it. It has been a crazy and chaotic year with everything that has taken place in my personal life. Much of it was good and surprising and some other parts have been well, rather stressful. Now as we approach Christmas I am met with my home in escrow, another home to move into, planning a wedding in April 2026, and the passing of my late grandmother on December 23rd.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Wish for Eden - Fly

This is it. The band, the album, the first release on Tooth and Nail Records. I remember when this came out. Nobody had heard of Tooth and Nail or Wish for Eden. I just knew this abrasive alternative/punk/grunge/hardcore hybrid was good. Really good. A little simplistic maybe, but super raw and totally scratched where I itched at the time. Wish for Eden’s impact is hard to understate. I was talking to some friends recently who are younger than me, maybe 15-20 years. These are folks heavily involved in the Christian independent scene.… Continued →

Top 25 of '25: Rob Jensen

All in all, I thought 2025 was a pretty good year for music! There were a few bands I’d hoped to hear some new material from and didn’t. There were a few I didnt expect to hear from whatsoever…but we did! Then, there were even a few new bands and artists I’d never heard of before who popped up on the radar and made some really great music! As we move into 2026, I most certainly have some big expectations for the new year, as I have for years and years prior, but will they be met?… Continued →

New (Sort Of) Earthsuit Song, Re-Issue Announcement

Before there was Mutemath, there was Earthsuit. Fronted by Paul Meany, Earthsuit was a rather eclectic band, ahead of its time in a number of ways, but unfortunately disbanded in 2003. While “Kaleidoscope Superior” saw commercial release in 2000 and is still beloved by many 25 years later, the band’s followup, “The Rise Of Modern Simulation” was released independently and is a little tougher to come by, except perhaps on YouTube.   Last week, Paul Meany announced the release of the first remastered single off “The Rise Of Modern Simulation” which you can find on digital and streaming services and check out below.… Continued →

Song of the Day: August Burns Red - O Come O Come Emmanuel

Every year at Christmastime I try to choose a selection for the Song of the Day that is both seasonally appropriate and also relevant to our scene. Sure, it’s the day after Christmas, but since Christmas historically is a 12-day feast, we’re still in Christmas! August Burns Red has been making engaging and sometimes complicated metalcore since 2003. They are known as one of the more progressive and technical bands in the genre, regardless of faith affiliation. They are also known more for being “Christians in a band” than being a “Christian band.”… Continued →

New Single From Chasing Victory, "Renegade"

Chasing Victory has done it again, dropping another new single titled, “Renegade” (see below). The track comes out swinging, but relents slightly in the choruses, making way for some really melodic vocal leads that are especially catchy. The vocals on this track sound amazing. The guys just might have plans for more music ahead, who’d be psyched for that??   Oh, and head HERE to get merch, updates, an d more from the band.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Pink Daffodils - Listlessness

Oh my gosh, why is it that sometimes the best bands have the shortest-lived careers?!? Pink Daffodils released one 3-song EP and then a follow-up single (literally a one-song CD) and then disappeared. Their style of female-fronted semi-melodic yet intensely screamy hardcore scratched my brain in very particular way. To this day, their Listless EP is one of my favorite and most unique hardcore releases ever. There was one more Pink Daffodils track, offered on the Trampled compilation from Boot to Head Records. Hailing from Philadelphia, the band shared some members with punk mainstays One-21, but with a very different sound.… Continued →
