The festival is similar to the legendary Cornerstone Festival, bringing in bands of all genres with Spirit filled messages (primarily). Broken Flesh has decided to add on Death List and Obliteration Guitarist Bryan Nikkel as a new Bassist. The band went through some lineup struggles last year, with the departure of brother Jacob and Josh Mathes, the band’s vocalist and bassist, and Guitarist Dakota Whiteside. The band would then add on Bassist Kyle Fitzgerald. The band would announce that Kyle was departing from the band due to family reasons. On April 6, the band announced a twenty song compilation, known as Sands of Time, containing everything from the very beginning all the way to the current material. Metalcore band, My Ransomed Soul, has announced that they are coming to close. The band formed in 2007, and went 10 years and released several albums and EPs, most predominately through Red Cord Records. The band’s most recent EP, Trilateral, was released through Bandcamp. The hard rock rapper Manafest and the post-hardcore/metalcore band Famous Last Words have announced they are going on a East Coast tour together. The two are very different style wise: Manafest started as just a rapper, with a nu-metal tinge, and seems to be returning to his roots with his new single “Stones”. The beloved thrash metal band, Tourniquet has been working on a new album for the last year or so, with only the lineup of founder Ted Kirkpatrick (drums) and longtime member Aaron Guerra (guitars). The band has been set to play Exodo Fest for awhile, it was just unknown about the lineup. Until recently. On March 4, 2017, the band announced they would be playing with Guitarist Jamey Henn, Bassist Andy Robbins (formerly of Holy Soldier), and Vocalist Jason Robison (Wrath of Typhon). Fearless metalcore act August Burns Red has begun tracking vocals for their new and upcoming album, which is yet to be named. August Burns Red have been around since 2003 and have released 7 studio albums, 2 EPs as well as several 7″s. This would mark their 8th album and their sophomore release through Fearless Records. The metalcore band DIRE, has a some exciting news! They have announced that they have signed to the label known as Sancrosanct Records. The label has had bands such as Remembrance (one member is now in Sleeping Giant) and Bloodlined Calligraphy. There is not much else to talk about the label. The southern metal band, The Showdown has not announced that they are back together, but they did do live stream where they played an acoustic song. The band started years ago in 1999 as 2450, but didn’t become The Showdown until 2003. They released four albums, two through Mono vs. Stereo and two through Solid State Records. The band may be hinting at a reunion, but expect an original lineup. Members Patrick Judge and Jeremiah Scott are probably really busy with Demon Hunter and probably won’t be able to perform.… Continued →

The death metal band Soul Embraced has come out of their hiatus and are making a new album. Today the band announced they were doing shows and put out a post asking where fans would want to see them next. Former Bassist Jeff Bowie has also announced that he has rejoined the band and is pulling “double duties”, with Soul Embraced’s labelmates Becoming Saints. So with that, I think it’s safe to assume that Jon Dunn of Demon Hunter is no longer apart of the band.… Continued →

The progressive thrash metal band, Believer has began to release their long-awaited new music. Though not all at once. It seems that they are releasing them two songs at a time, or at least this EP only had two tracks. This EP, just called 1 of 5, has two tracks: “Home” and “888”. The band formed in 1986 as Deceiver, but changed their name to Believer the next year. They released three albums though the label R.E.X. 2016 was the year for comebacks. There was bands like Destroy the Runner, Hopesfall, and Advent. Advent has brought their A-game with their comeback. And they bring the pain with their new EP, Pain and Suffering. You could call it a “Revival”. “Wind from the Valley” is the first track of the EP. The bass is thick, the guitars bring in the metal, while the drums are very hardcore style. The band, Abated Mass of Flesh has had several side projects, everything from raw atmospheric black metal bands like Cryptic Rising or awesome deathcore bands like Parallax Withering. Flayed Alive is probably the most like AMOF. The project is a new band from Zack Plunkett, the brainchild of AMOF. The death metal/deathcore band Your Chance to Die has some exciting news. They recently announced news that the album artwork, release date and tour dates were coming soon. The band started several years ago in 2007 with founding members, Missi Avila (Vocals) and Coca Avila (Guitars). The band has been on Red Cord Records up until 2016, when they signed to Dave Ellefson’s label EMP Label Group. Their new and third full-length album, Ex-Nihilo will be released on April 21st. The prog metal act Mantric has announced they will be entering the studio in April. For those who don’t know who Mantric is, they are the members of the band known as Lengsel, formerly of Solid State Records. The band formed in 2007 in Oslo, Norway. The band has hosted all the members of Lengsel, David Husvik from Extol, and Anders Lidal of Benea Reach. Mantric is currently independent. The band released an EP and a full-length in 2015 and have released the vinyl for them in July last year.… Continued →

Demon Hunter, metalcore act, has released yet another single from their upcoming album, Outlive, called “Half As Dead”. The band started in 2000 as a project of Ryan and Don Clark’s (ex-Training for Utopia). Over the years, the lineup has solidified as Ryan (Vocals), Jon Dunn (Bass), Patrick Judge (Guitar), Jeremiah Scott (Guitar), and Timothy “Yogi” Watts (Drums). The album is due out on March 31. The hardcore band Poured Out has decided to call it quits. They’ve been around for 3 years and have released two EPs and one studio album titled To the Point of Death. The band has been signed to Facedown Records for a year. Yesterday, the band put out a statement that they have decided to call it quits. The band is slated to play Facedown Fest in May, but I bet that will not be the final show. They are working on the date currently for their final show.… Continued →

Death Therapy’s new album dropped about a week and a half ago and they have already released their first music video. The song “Wake Me (When I’m Dead)” brings out some goth rock and groove metal all over the track. The song is short but sweet, but still brings the intensity. The band started in October 2016, as a way to preserve the legacy of the Metalcore giants For Today. A great independent Ambient metalcore act known as Heliocentric has released their debut song, titled “Moonshine”. The song is musically amazing and brings me to think of bands like What We Do in Secret and Wage War. The uncleans are very hardcore style, while the cleans seem like a power metal vocalist. Islander has some cool songs. They are also known for having an interesting stage presence, what with JR Bareis and his costumes. Well for Islander’s new video for their song “Better Day”, it seems to be Vocalist Mikey Carvajal this time, with his cheetah print sleeves. But not to make that the point of this, the song is very uplifting and pleasant. It reminds me personally of some P.O.D.’s more uplifting songs.
