Nebraska/Iowa based Post-Hardcore/Old School Emo band Names Without Numbers, have made their return known. The band has played quite a few shows this year including a recent gig with Stryper. Names Without Numbers has a show on December 11th with Spoken and Dayshell in Omaha, Nebraska at Lookout Lounge (see flyer below). The band formed in 2000 and has played a distinct blend of (old school) emo and fiery post-hardcore mixed with a special blend of alt rock for good measure. Anberlin which broke up in 2014, has stayed relatively busy behind the scenes with producing an incredible (that I wished I owned) Vinyl box set featuring all 7 full length releases along with a coffee table book. As was expected, the vinyl box set sold out a few months after going on sale, all 1000 copies sold out. The Blamed have begun writing their new EP. This will be the first official new release since 2002. The band has taken a turn back towards more old school punk/thrash sound as found on their early albums. It’s much welcomed in this scene of jaded cynicism and a certain sort of safe complacency. I was browsing iTunes this morning and found a sweet pre-order from the band Phinehas for their upcoming ep “Fight Through The Night” (available December 16th). You can even listen to the samples on iTunes. It appears to be an “acoustic” release with the band backing up Sean’s strong hit worthy voice (if any guy is made for radio, it’s him). One song “Book of Names” features Garrett Russell of Silent Planet. This Ep follows the same feel as their 2013 “The Bridge Between” Ep.
