For the first time in over 20 years, Officer Negative “Dead To The World” gets the vinyl treatment. Officer Negative’s 1998 debut full length on Screaming Giant Records has been meticulously remastered for vinyl with recreated art from the original photos, drawings, and graphics that inspired the original release. I had a hand in sharing this band with Screaming Giant Records founder, Kendall Nadeau, all the way back in 1996/1997 through their very early demos. Beloved (US) released this absolutely flawless cover of U2’s classic song, “Like a Song”, last month. It is without a doubt, one of my favorite cover songs by an artist we write about and quite simply one of the best songs of 2020. To be honest, I wasn’t as familiar with this U2 song as much as their other more famous tracks but nonetheless the band put their own unique spin on it and blew it out of the water. It’s not only lyrically poignant but the sound quality of this one song is on par with anything a major label artist would release in 2020.… Continued →

Shane, why must you create such fresh, relevant, heart wrenching new music? This song literally grabs you by the throat and well, releases a flood of all the best emotions. In reality, this song does anything but “Choke” you but it does grip you with a collection of notes and music performed by a talented ensemble of well seasoned musicians. They are a post-hardcore/emo/indie rock band that really amplify the “rock” element and are here to present some super cool music (that will blow your mind, significantly). Ted Bond (Lead Vocalist/Guitarist/songwriter for the band Craig’s Brother), his wife, and their children, have been displaced by the recent wildfires in Northern California and are unable to return home. They’ve had to evacuate and will not be allowed to return for some time. Basically they are homeless and just living day by day. CB guitarist and songwriter, Steven Neufeld, has started a Go Fund Me just to help Ted and Family get by during these difficult times. A lot of families are struggling through not only the pandemic, but also loss of work and income as a result and add to the mess of 2020 with these wildfires and you just have a terrible whole year.… Continued →
