Deep Valleys is a band from Buffalo, NY that formed in 2016. Since then, the band has released an ep titled “The Call Of The Void” in Sept 2017, as well as a full album titled, “Goldhaven” that dropped in August of 2019. The newest single, “Beyond The Waves” was released last week and is a pretty great song. The band’s style reminds me of a mix of Thrice and Anberlin. New Metalcore band, Then It Ends (feat. members of A Past Unknown and Dividing the Masses) have released a new song and a video to go with it for the song “Reality”. Much more melodic than the recently released single, “Depravity”, “Reality” contains great lyrics and heavy moments that contrast the laid back feel heard for most of the track in perfect proportion. “Reality” makes for a great listen for fans of a variety of tastes in music. Film director Guillermo del Toro and spastic hardcore punk band Blaster the Rocket Man have at least one thing in common. Whereas most of society, and particularly within Christianity, monsters are usually the bad guys, these two artistic entities–operating in disparate fields as the case may be–often take the side of the monster. Pan’s Labyrinth, for instance, juxtaposes the kind but terrifying Pan against the inhuman, yet human, monsters of the Spanish fascists under Francisco Franco.
