In something of a surprise (at least to me), Relient K released a new live album on Spotify minutes ago. The 15 tracks that appear on the release include one track from Two Lefts, a few choice selections off Mmhmm, and the rest are from varied releases after that. The fantastic band – Off Road Minivan, have dropped TWO brand new songs titled “Vampire”, and “Supernova”. Both songs can be heard below this post. In an announcement made earlier tonight, The Letter Black announced they’ve signed with Rockfest Records. Not much else is firmed up at the time of this post, such as when to expect the first single or new album, but there are shows scheduled starting in June (tentatively, for obvious reasons). Later this year, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will release The Emergency ep, and while an exact release date appears to be unannounced at this time, the band has released a new lyric video for the track “Brace Yourself”, which will appear on the ep. The song, as many others lately, seems to be heavily consistent with current events. Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire released a new song last night called “No Hold On Me”. If you haven’t already heard Matty’s solo material, it’s quite different from MMF and is much more pop/electronic. Twenty One Pilots debuted their new song, “Level of Concern” earlier today and a video to go with it. The song isn’t really all that different from what you might already expect from them, but is nonetheless a pretty enjoyable listen. Both the song and video very clearly echo the current state of affairs we’re all facing with being locked down, quarantined, or whatever word/phrase you prefer to use. A friend just turned me on to this great new band out of Finland called “Ocean Dark”. They are a guitar driven hard rock band with an indie current running throughout. Solid lyrics, solid sound, and incredibly well put together. I encourage you to check out this new release and watch the lyric video for “Overdose” below. Skillet dropped a new music video today for the single, “Save Me”. One of the heavier, grittier tunes off the band’s most recent release, “Victorious”, the video for “Save Me” was recorded while the band was on tour in Los Angeles. About “Save Me,” John Cooper stated, “This song is about the darker side of you that you are afraid to show people. ‘If they only knew how messed up I am, would they still love me?’ This song is about getting honest and asking for help, both spiritually and naturally speaking.… Continued →

Today, Then It Ends released a new single called, “Rescue Me”. The project from Grant Lilly (formerly from A Past Unknown) has shown a bit of musical diversity with each release, from heavy metalcore sounds to parts that are a bit more melodic. I loved Spoken from the moment their 3rd record dropped “Echoes of the Spirit Still Dwell”. The minute I heard this song, “Promise”, from the album “Moment of Imperfect Clarity”, I couldn’t shake my Spoken fandom. This band and their music came out at the perfect time post-9/11. It was uplifting, positive, and the songs were incredibly addictive in melodies. The Used, Story of the Year, Senses Fail, and Blindside all would have made perfect tour mates during this time period. The song “Promise” was really an inspirational song, one that felt like a warm pat on the back and an embrace when you feel broken and miserable.… Continued →
