Beloved Southern California indie rock legends – The Prayer Chain, have announced 3 reunion shows along with a kickstarter to fund a re-release of the original “Mercury” recording which will be titled “Communion”. This is the 30th anniversary of that ground breaking final album they released all the way back in 1995. Anberlin have just announced a very special tour commemorating 20 years of “Never Take Friendship Personal” this summer beginning July 31st in Jacksonville, FL. and wrapping up on August 17th in Indianapolis, with The Almost and Watashi Wa! Hopeful. keep getting better and better, am I right? Nate Parrish just dropped a music video for his emotional and inspirational new rock ballad, “Small”. I’ve heard it described as somewhere between Sam Raimi and Wes Anderson but I definitely see some Michael Bay. Seth Davey, formerly of Attalus, has released a new song, “When My Mind Runs Back”. The piano driven track speaks of how God remains faithful even in the midst of all our distractions, misgivings, when we act out, etc. He is always there, eager to welcome us back onto the right track whenever we go astray. Is The Myriad not the absolute best rock act with new music out there right now? Sometimes these older bands reunite only to put out music that isn’t as endearing, fresh, or honoring the past while embracing the future but The Myriad does all of the above and more. Their music is refreshing and cathartic. I can’t help but feel enthralled by each and every “new” song they release and have released over the past year or so. The artist known as Ben S Dixon a multi instrumentalist and songwriter from the Northern Virginia area, just dropped his intense and heavy new song “Moths & Rust” which based off the verses in Matthew 6: 19-21. The Myriad are on a role with new music since they came back from the dead. This is the band’s 3rd new single in a year! I would go out on a limb and say that this new stuff blows away anything they’d done prior, years in the past. Beautiful stuff and really catchy in a somber, soothing manner. Newly signed to Fair Vaux Records, the duo known as Gypsy & Me have just dropped their 2nd new single for 2024 and this one is one heck of an emotional whirlwind. The song is titled “Ain’t Done With You Yet” and has literally come out of nowhere for me.
