Minnesota’s Ace Troubleshooter was a pretty cool pop punk band back in the day. They were very close with Relient K & vocalist John played bass with RK & RKs drummer Dave played in Ace. This hard rock band hails from Minnesota and released 1 LP back in ’03.  Took a while to track it down, but received it this past week from drummer Donn Kranz. The music has a tad of prog feel which changes it up from other similar releases. Highlights for me also include The Light and Quietly. The lyrics are very Godly. This SOTD speaks of God’s grace & mercy as we can’t please God with our sin nature. Only Jesus can per His atonement for our sins on the cross.… Continued →

So here alas is another rarity. I don’t remember where I got this song from, but I always found it catchy. Seems to be modern rock/grunge back circa the early 2000s from Minnesota.  I found them listed on an old Tripod site that listed other Minnesota bands: punkers Angry Atom & Children 18:3 along with IVM bands Names Without Numbers & The Roosevelts. Crimson Thorn is one of the earliest Christian death metal bands. I remember their first album & was introduced to a preacher & Your Carcass. This SOTD is incredibly heavy & one of my fave loud songs of all time. Also am stoked I was able to hang out with Luke Renno who is a pretty friendly guy & was at the album release of his current band Taking the Head of Goliath a few years back.
