Trenches: "Tracking is back on track"

By in News | 8 Comments

YES! Finally! Trenches, the sludge metalcore project of Jimmy Ryan (Haste the Day), has announced that the recording of their sophomore release, Reckoner, is back on track! Trenches has been an on-and-off project of Ryan’s, when at their height, they were signed to Solid State Records and released an album, The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole, through the label. Check out their song “Calling” down below to prep your ears for Reckoner, which is hoped to be out by New Year’s Eve.

I backed this album so long ago that I no longer know the login information for my account.

Great news. They actually used a crowdfunding platform to fund this album YEARS ago. I bet there are quite a few miffed people around, especially because I think I read it was Jimmy Ryan who hadn’t tracked vocals but everything else was pretty finished.

Shady. I remember the 2 year+ fiasco for Showbreads Cancer album.

I just want to note here how mediocre of an album “Cancer” ended up being … love Showbread, but that album and “Who Can Know It?” just don’t do anything for me…

Gregboydbread? Ha ha. No disses to him by the way … he’s actually one of my go to theologians. But I know how much of an influence he is to Josh (or at least, I think I know that).

I was always a Stephen Keech>Jimmy Ryan person, Jimmy’s vocal style isn’t my favourite. But this song was beautifully done, I didn’t expect the melodic change-up whatsoever. Really enjoyed it, I guess I need to go check out the album now.

Also, the video didn’t seem to be available in Canada.
