David Tamaoka (Pennylane) - Ephesians 2:1-10 (Song)
Pennylane guitarist and vocalist – David Tamaoka, has recorded some “solo” music under his own name for the past 10+ years, ever since his band went on an extended hiatus. His studio output has been slim to none as he has worked steadily on building his family and working with his Church there in Hawaii. Well I am excited to reveal that he has finally emerged with some “live” recordings (with more to come hopefully) and you can hear one of them below. There are rumors of a Pennylane “reunion” and a new release but we’ll just leave it at that.… Continued →

Oh, Eternity Release Brand New Full Length "I Exist"
You all need to give this new release from rising indie pop-rock band Oh, Eternity a chance. It’s an insanely awesome album filled with unforgettable melodies, vocals you can sing along with, and just enough “pop” where it’s not too overbearing. So many influences shine through on this release but if you were to make comparisons I’d say imagine a combination of Academy Is.., Plain White Ts, Edison Glass, Hearts Like Lions, My Epic, and Walk the Moon. It’s a diverse set of songs and an album I’m sure that many of you would welcome into your stereos.… Continued →

Scene and Unseen: Flyer Art For The Lansing Underground
A really great new book has been released titled “Scene and Unseen: Flyer Art For The Lansing Underground” written by Alex Delavan. The book chronicles the many shows that took place at The Lansing Underground (Michigan) from the late 90’s until 2003 when the venue held their last event. A lot of bands you may recognize as having played this venue as well as a bunch of indie acts that probably should have gotten more notice. I was sent the promotional materials for this wonderful book and from the looks of it, seems to be very well detailed an informative piece of work.… Continued →

Today's Thoughts on Marketing and Social Media by Brandon Jones
Good morning everyone and Happy New Year! Just thought i’d post a little blurb about an alarming “trend” I have seen in recent months. A few artists/bands have hooked up with some marketing firms, more like infomercial style marketing if you are looking for a definition. Anyway, I have been blasted with these ads for whatever reason on Facebook due to my young teenage demographic that I so lovingly belong to. I’m almost 40 going on almost 20, am I right? I have nothing against promoting art/music/products on social media and the web in general, I’ve done it myself for IVM and friends/labels do it for their bands all the time.… Continued →

Pyramid Park - Fall On Me (Audio)
I’ve mentioned the artist known as Pyramid Park late last year and I just wanted to share one of his songs off the most recent full length “Vulnerability”. This worship centered UK based indie artist would fall somewhere between Bastille, Foster The People, We Shot the Moon, Two Door Cinema Club, and even a tad bit of Delirious. Pyramid Park’s refreshing take on faith based indie-alt-rock falls right up there with today’s hottest bands while establishing a road all their own. If you dig great music period then please give Pyramid Park a listen today.… Continued →

Squad 5-0 Begin Working on New Comeback Album, Say What?
With all these new reunions fresh in our minds and the rivers of nostalgia running deep, it was only time before the mighty Squad 5-0 came back and dropped a new album on us. According to the band’s official Instagram page (sorry I’m not aware of any Facebook pages that are current), they may be working on a new album and teased with like 1 second guitar clip. Whether or not this is true remains a mystery much like the band themselves. Let’s hope for one more rockin’ ruckus of a new album.… Continued →
The Prayer Chain Announce Vinyl Release of "Shawl" and Live Show
Beloved Southern California 90’s alt-rock band, The Prayer Chain, have just announced a new campaign to fund the vinyl pressing of their much loved debut full length “Shawl”. The band crossed all barriers and industry confines to write songs that conveyed emotions which the general “Christian” market just wasn’t prepared to deal with at the time. Their music transcends all labels and tags that may be associated with the band to truly be recognized as the powerhouse rock act that they were. This and “Mercury” were the band at their finest.… Continued →
