Thrice have just announced plans for a 15th anniversary tour in honor of their landmark album, “Vheissu”. Vheissu originally released in 2005 via Island Records that was met with a heavy dose of critical acclaim and a bit of negativity from the rabid early years fan base. For me it was a beautiful, musically rich and engaging, endearing album that has stood the test of time. I still remember hearing the song or two on a Burnout game and being so psyched for the band. So I was watching RadioU video channel yesterday and caught a video from this band – Wait For The Day. Apparently we covered them back in 2017 but then they slipped back under our radar. The band has been making solid music for the past few years and this latest video was posted 10 months ago. This song appears on the band’s latest release “The Sun Will Drown” which is available now. I found an interesting, cool news bit I’d like to share with you all today. Adam Lohrbach who played bass and lead vocals for the pop-punk band Homegrown, has been leading worship for Bridgelife Worship here in So Cal for several years. I just caught on to this project recently and was excited to learn of the “Homegrown” connection. I enjoyed albums like “Act Your Age” and “Kings of Pop” as well as their final ep. Today’s song of the day comes in the form of some punk-ska from our friends in Michigan based band – The Insyderz. I was a fan of this band dating back to 1997 when I heard their debut full length, “Motor City Ska”. The band released 3 full lengths, 2 worship/praise albums, and this final (?) full length in 2012. The song that meant the most to me and had me spinning it again was “Sinner’s Songbook”. The track features Joe’s (Yerke) gritty yet melodic, vocal delivery alongside the vocals of Reese Roper (Five Iron Frenzy), and Matt Morginsky (OC Supertones).… Continued →
