Song of the Day: Grave Defier - Arise from Your Grave

By in News, Song of The Day | No Comments

This Long Beach, California-based band formed in the 2000s and have put out a number of underground releases. Made up of Latin-American believers, songs have been written in both Spanish and English, thus featuring a multi-cultural flair! Their first demo was released in 2006 and was self-titled. It showcased a brutal old school death metal (OSDM) sound, combining elements of thrash, grind and sludge in tempo changes that would leave your head spinning.

A split CD with Dissolve Being was also released in 2006, and featured live recordings of songs from Grave Defier, as well as a few additional live tracks. After a lengthy silence (I don’t know if the band was actively playing shows, and simply not recording, or whether they had taken a hiatus–let us know in the comments if you have more information), they emerged in 2019 with a full-length on Christian metal underground label Martyrdom Records, entitled Arise from Your Grave. The album featured a mixture of previously released and unreleased material.

Clearly a band in the underground realm, it would be great to hear more from them as there is a lack of quality OSDM sounds in the Christian scene. Our selection for today is “Arise from Your Grave,” a song which is found on all three of the band’s public releases. This version is taken from the album of the same name.
