Grave Robber is about to release their next album, You’re All Gonna Die! and it is an album that has well exceeded all of my personal expectations. If you’ve been a fan of Grave Robbers albums up to this point, this CD will be no exception. If you’ve never given them a listen before or if you haven’t been impressed up til now, this CD may surprise you as there are many deviations from the bands previous offerings and has something for everyone.
The album kicks off with an eerie intro called “Flatliners”. At first listen I was immediately reminded of the theme from George Romero’s 1982 classic, “Creepshow”. But this intro is definitely distinct from it and easily as creepy, if not more. At its climax we’re thrown full force into the album’s title track, “You’re All Gonna Die”, a song that’s pretty heavy punk and like many on the album, has a definite southern rock tint on it.
There are still plenty of old school punk tracks on the album such as “Paranormal Activity”, “Something Wicked This Way Comes”, and “Haunted House”, but there are also many new and welcome additions to what you’re used to from previous albums. There are horror film intros to many songs, you’ll notice some keys and synth on “Paranormal Activity” and “Invisible Man”, some “has anyone seen my face?” solos on a few tracks, a really sweet breakdown in “Something Wicked This Way Comes”…I could go on and on.
Are you looking for the message in the music? It’s something that is always at the forefront for me as a listener and this album delivers just as Grave Robber has always done in the past. Nothing sugar coated, nothing watered down. From the title track reminding us of our own mortality (are you ready for what’s next?), to “Invisible Man” which speaks to the fact we all too often overlook the poor and others in need around us, there’s tons of substance here. Wretched himself introduces “Incredible Shrinking Woman”, a track against domestic violence and voicing a hope for those trapped in those situations to get out and for the abusers to get help. Every song has lyrics with depth and meaning.
OVERALL This album is a total win. As I’d mentioned earlier in this review, whether you’re familiar with the bands prior efforts or not, whether you’ve liked them or not, this album is a step up and has something for everyone. Punk? Check. Southern rock riffs? Check. Sick solos? Check. Heavy riffs? Sweet breakdowns? Keys? Synth? Great lyrics? All check. I make it a point not to give out a score of 10 in my reviews, especially with bands I personally enjoy, but in this case I really don’t feel I have a choice in the matter. It’s a 10 at least and will certainly make an appearance in December on my “albums of the year” list, being a strong contender for the top spot. Grab this album ASAP, you won’t be disappointed. You can order a copy at rottweilerrecords.bigcartel.com. To get a digital copy, go to cdbaby.com/graverobber13. It is also available NOW on itunes!

Cool! I liked the songs that have been streamed on this site, so I’ll be sure to pick this up when it comes out!
I’m trying to edit this post, but at the moment it doesn’t seem to be working. If you’re looking for a physical cd, that’s out on 11/7/11. I just looked and can confirm it is available NOW on itunes if that’s the way you’re looking to go.
A 10 means its beta than all of ther previous material, and thats prety crazy, lol. I wil b orderin this soon eitha way, but a 10 seems a bit extreme, as of now. I wil post again once i hear the whole album.
I stil havent goten my pre- orda pakage. Anybody know wat the hold up is? I thot this was supost 2 b out in nov?
I finaly got this cd almost 2 months lata. Aparently they had sum issues wit copyrites. Anyway, its a gud album, but not as gud as ther old stuf imo. Especialy considerin thers a live trak (“Incredible Shrinking Woman”)+ a previously relesaed trak (Fill This Place With Blood) on it. I also dont like the fact that rotwiela records cds dont come wit lyix/ booklets. Maybe im bein nitpiky since this band has set the bar hi wit ther previous releases, but i gave it a 7. A 10 was def excesive, imo, lol.
Introduction tracks need to go away. I am so tired of listening to an album stream only to have the second song begin after a few chugs and a spooky guitar lead fade in. Other than that, solid review, Rob. This doesn’t sound too original, but at least you thoroughly enjoyed it and that’s all that matters here.
Thanx for the humbling review Rob.
Josh, themes are a part of the overall art of the entire body of work. It’s a part of the shock rock/horror punk/theatrical genre. Our disc starts with a sort of movie theme, then goes into track two. If you are only streaming, just go to track two if you don’t want to hear it.
Since most people now us mp3 players, its just as easy to leave off track one if you choose.
Either way, I recommend downloading this for yourself rather than just streaming, you can’t get the entire vibe doing that! ;)
Well isn’t that just the most uplifting album title and cover and song titles :)
Makes me feel all fuzzy and warm inside! =)
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Guess I need to check Kickstarter then! Can’t wait to hear what this sounds like. :)
I can’t wait to hear this album! Grave Robber is probably my favorite punk band, they’re lyrics are epic as always, and the overall vibe of the music is spooky and awesome.
I agree with the reviewer, this album is everything you LOVE about our favorite Godly ghouls in Grave Robber… but there’s just a little more pepper on it this time! I’m so glad I’ve gotten to know these dudes… AND, I love playing their stuff on my radio show!!
When I introduced these dudes before one of their shows at Cornerstone this last summer, I told the crowd, “this is the band that makes satan pee his pants”; this disc just proves that I was right. ;)
Clutch,
Satan pooped!!! At least it smelled that way!! Ok, maybe it was the unwashed costumes.
After listening to it in it’s entirety, I have to say this is Grave Robbers best work yet!
I need to get this album. Back when IVM was looking for bands for a comp. I actually sent a message out to these guys and let them know about it. Not sure if my message was a deciding factor for them to submit their music for the comp. but I’m happy they did it and more people are now exposed to their music. They are by far the best Christian Horror Punk/Metal band ever.

Thanx, everyone!! We are humbled. You all rock!!
Just received my copy of the CD at the beginning of the week. Not sure why it took so long to get to me, but I was very happy to receive it. I popped the CD in my car CD player and it has remained there since. This is definitley the best Grave Robber album yet and I do pray they continue down this road with future albums. Standout tracks for me include: Nightbreed, Invisible Man, Last Man on Earth (Wretched I hope you continue the tradition of having at least one “ballad” style horror pop/punk song on your albums love em to death!) I also enjoyed Haunted House, though the “Wave your hands in the air and sing, Whoa oh oh oh oh”, part could have been used to a fuller effect as it was the catchiest part of the entire track. The “I beleive in ghosts” part just sorta ruined the catchiness of the previous part. I also enjoyed the southern metalish style of “Something Wicked This Way Comes” and the more metalish “Curse of the Werewolf”. Anyway, love Grave Robber and “You’re All Gonna Die” (title track also amazing) is an awesome album. I pray God will continue to bless this band and we will see more albums for years to come!
Correction:
it’s “I beleive in GHOST”
Only one, Holy ghost!
Got the CD today and just listened to it. Each album sounds better and better.
I have to say Curse of the Werewolf works great as a closer. It’s different from the rest of the songs but not too different, which really makes it stand out as a conclusion to the album. The middle portion of Curse of the Werewolf actually brought to mind Megadeth, which was surprising and awesome. I am hooked on that song.
And major props for the stance on Incredible Shrinking Woman and providing info for a DV support hotline.
