Best of Psalm 46

This summer my church is doing a sermon series on Psalm 46. It’s something we’ve been doing every summer for the last few years—picking a Psalm and reading through it every week. Naturally as a music lover I enjoy looking to see what artists have made a song based on the Psalm that we’re studying. This year I might have gone a little overboard though. Song of the Day: Poor Bishop Hooper - Psalm 10

If you’ve been following my new release lists closely you may have noticed one artist has been in every list this year. Poor Bishop Hooper is Jesse and Leah Roberts and they’ve been busy working on a new project called EveryPsalm. Over the course of the next three years Poor Bishop Hooper will release a new song inspired by a psalm every week until all 150 psalms have been covered. That’s some dedication! Metaphysical Monday: Corporate Worship

Last week, we looked at music on the mission field.  Now let’s look at the use of music in worship services everywhere. Music is used in every church service everywhere on earth.  I actually can’t recall a single church service I’ve been to (which numbers in the thousands) where songs weren’t utilized and meant to be sung together.  Isn’t that amazing?  In fact, music and the singing of songs seems like a fundamental necessity to corporate worship.  Why can’t churches worship our Father another way?  Why haven’t churches formed another way of communicating praise to their Creator?… Continued →
