Today's Video Flashback is from the band Thrice. Since the band is going on an extended hiatus this year, I thought it would be appropriate to look back at some of their videos over the years. The band has come a long way since their early "Identity Crisis" days. What…

To be entirely honest, I’m not sure how I feel about either of these songs. The music is fine, but lyrically…I dunno. I feel Dustin might be leaning towards a more liberal strain of theology. I certainly hope not, because his lyricism is one of the driving points of the band for me.
It certanly wudnt surprise me. Think about recent bands who try 2 spew the oxymoronic “left wing Christianity” beliefs (Pro- “lgbtqrstuv”+ pro- abort/ anti- life politix), like silent planet, sleepin giant, etc. Wats the comon denominata? Ther from cali. We call it “cali Christianity” out here. Even the biga labels based on the “left coast” (Facedown, t+ n) seem 2 go furtha left on the political spectrum, by continuin 2 suport the aformentiond bands on ther label. Unfortunately, this virus seems 2 b spredin quikly 2 otha bands+ labels, such as blood n ink (Witherd bones).
^I don’t think this is a helpful comment. Critique the views if you must, but words like “spew” and “oxymoronic” don’t exactly create an opportunity for discussion and growth.
I’m interested in checking out this album. Unlike some of the comments in this thread, I’ve found Kensrue’s political perspectives refreshing and thought provoking. I’ve only listened to one Thrice record before (Major/Minor) but I’ll be buying this and giving it a go.
I guess the refreshing factor depends on where youre coming from in life. For some of us, discovering postmodern/relativistic thinking in 2018 is pretty passe and only magnified when its coming from an established Christian voice. Sounds more uninformed/weak than bold /refreshing to me.

I’ve heard the same from several people now.
