Raleigh-based instrumental post-rock group Old Solar features former members of the dearly beloved My Epic and Attalus. The group has announced a new EP, due January 18, titled SEE. It serves as a follow-up to 2016’s SPEAK and features themes tied to the four seasons.

So dang proud of these guys. This album rules! Yes, Evan King (guitarist/vocals) from Attalus is now in Old Solar. Also, Josh Gardner (ex-idealist) played drums on this album, though, he isn’t an official member.

I hate to get nit-picky, but just because an album only has 5 songs doesn’t automatically make it an “EP.” Make no mistake, this is an LP with a runtime of nearly 50 minutes.

So music can only be good if it’s accompanied by vocals?

Definitely going to listen, though I’m not one for instrumental music generally. Attalus and My Epic are favorites of mine.

Just because the title says it, can you clarify how Travis Brooks is ex-My Epic? I can’t figure out how or when Travis was part of My Epic. I see him listed online but he’s not in a single album credit. I don’t have their first Ep “This is Rescue.” Was he on that? Maybe a touring musician at some point?

Touring musician from what I remember. I feel like Travis was with My Epic between I Am Undone and Yet but not positive. He also toured with Tragic Hero artist Called To Arms for a year (2007).
