Lost in Ohio announces two new releases from The Julies for 2026

Fans of indie popsters The Julies have good reason to celebrate. Lost in Ohio (who released Always & Always in 2023, and re-issued the much-loved Love Life on vinyl in 2020) has announced two new releases from the band, both set for February 27th of this year.

A brand new full-length will emerge, entitled Cherisher, described as leaning “fully into reflection, memory, and meaning, delivering a deeply personal collection about holding on, on purpose . . . The album draws from shimmering post-punk urgency and ’90s shoegaze-influenced walls of
sound, allowing Alex and Pat, both playing multi-instrumentalist these days, a chance to repurpose the past as well.” The album was mixed and mastered in London by James Aparicio, who has worked with such giants as Depeche Mode, Spiritualized, and Mogwai.

If a new album wasn’t enough, the label is also re-issuing the band’s very first demo, for the very first time on vinyl. January was originally released in 1994 as a 6-song cassette, and was “noisy, dreamy, and unpolished in all the right ways.” 30 years later the demo gets the full vinyl treatment, but will be limited to 200 copies on black vinyl, in true DIY style.

Why Lost In Ohio refuses to release CDs remains a mystery to me. Every single Julies release has been vinyl….or cassette??? Most everyone still manufactures CDs, if only in small runs. I just don’t back digital only releases and vinyl, while nice to look at, is just not that practical. I’m afraid for me, it’s “No CD, no purchase”.
