Have You Heard of Lamenter?

In the past few years there have been great faith based, Christ loving punk and core bands coming out of Texas! There’s Bloodlines (Mis hermanos del valle), Brave Days, which I found out that Eric used to be in another great Texas punk band known as We Live Like Thieves, BreakawayRipped UpGratitude TX, and now Lamenter out of Sweet Water, Texas.

I don’t know much about Lamenter, whether it’s one guy playing all the instruments or a full band, but I do know that this is great, Spirit filled, melodic/post-hardcore. They just recently released their second follow up self titled ep to their Thorn ep which also happened to feature a song with guest vocalist from Gratitude TX.

Lamenter’s vocals remind me of Mean Pete (RIP) from Remembering Never (Side note: I didn’t always just listen to Christian music) and the music is such a beautiful mix of melodic and post hardcore with a dash of, dare I say, deathcore. (Listen to Mud off of the recent Lamenter EP which reminds me a bit of (Un)worthy)

Upon listening to Lamenter, I am reminded of other great bands such as Plead the Widow’s CauseThe Dwelling, and In Shepherds Arms as well. If you like any of these mentioned artists, then you will like Lamenter. If you haven’t heard of the forementioned artists, do yourself a favor and check them out as well.

Make sure to follow Lamenter on Bandcamp as they are constantly releasing singles. I’m expecting more great music from this artist and wouldn’t be surprised if some of their next releases are on Thumper Punk Records, Rottweiler Records, or The Charon Collective.

Enjoy and Christ bless you!
