Best of 2023: Rob Jensen

1. Lacey Sturm – Kenotic Metanoia: This November Lacey Sturm released her first album in nearly 8 years. To say it was worth the wait is an understatement. If it’s going to take 8 years to release a new album, this is the caliber release you want to shoot for. Lacey sounds as good as ever and has dropped an exceptional album here. It easily outshines her previous release, Life Screams, and is, in my opinion, her best work to date, including her material with Flyleaf.… Continued →

RIP Michael Bloodgood and Kaleb Luebchow

It is unfortunate news I bring you all today. Our music scene just lost two tremendous musicians and faithful servants. Michael Bloodgood who is the namesake and founding member of a legendary heavy metal band called Bloodgood that had quite a few huge albums release during the 80’s that shared Truth and Faith in a very real way through their songs and music. The band made a return about 10 years ago and released the fabulous, epic Christian Metal album “Dangerously Close” in 2013. Michael suffered a hemorrhagic stroke back in February and subsequent brain bleed that followed.… Continued →

War Of Ages - Sleight Of Hand (New Song)

War of Ages just dropped a blistering new song by the name of “Sleight of Hand” which is certainly, dare I say, one of the band’s best? Really diverse track full of the band’s furious energy, unrelenting heaviness, and irreplaceable singing parts. This is really going to be a great new EP (Rhema) that releases on October 29th via Facedown Records. What goes better with Halloween than some heavy metal done War of Ages style, am I right? Check out “Sleight of Hand” on all digital networks now and listen below.… Continued →

REVIEW : War of Ages - Void

Two thousand and nineteen has proven to be quite the year. One day, a bunch of rowdy hooligans on Facebook are planning how best to invade Area 51, and the next, there’s a War of Ages occurring on planet Djent. Void places an emphasis on groove, which is kicked into full gear by track three, “Blood of the Earth.” That being said, the more conservative fans need not fret; War of Ages are still our metalcore heroes from Mars. “Sulphur and Salt” – a Star Wars metal opera – capitalizes on what is perhaps the band’s greatest virtue: epic choruses.… Continued →

War of Ages - Cut Throat (Lyric Video)

The insanely talented metal(core) band, War Of Ages, returns with their politically charged new anthem titled “Cut Throat”. The song and it’s lyrics are basically an answer to all the movements on both sides that incite violence and hatred without offering any clear direction. It’s a hopeful call to arms in a biblical sense and doesn’t hold back lyrically. This is a band that has always stood for what is good and right and clearly points people towards a biblical worldview without being ashamed. Bold and unafraid, ready to share in love and out of a love that comes from a relationship with our savior Jesus Christ.… Continued →

The festival has hosted many bands that were signed to other labels or the subsidiary Strike First Records, including Clear Convictions (Strike First), Comrades (ex-Blood and Ink), Bloody Sunday (Strike First) and several others. This year is the 20th anniversary of the label so they have had many of their prominent acts come join in or even reunite. The label is also hosting the Fest for 3 days, which is very abnormal as it is usually a one day event.… Continued →
