Nate Parrish to Release New Single "God Knows" (Feat. David Bunton of The Showdown)

I bet you didn’t see that coming did you? Yes sir (or ma’am or whatever), Nate Parrish is BACK and with a vengeance, a most righteous, glorified vengeance of the melodic punk rock n’ roll variety. He is releasing his first new single of 2022 titled “God Knows” which features David Bunton of the great band – The Showdown (Get Snake Bit) lending his vocal talents. You might not know this but David also was a melodic punk band years ago before The Showdown so this pairing is absolutely perfect!… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Showdown - We Die Young

HEAVY METAL, Dudes! Despite popular opinions and clearly showing my lack of “scene cred”, I instantly connected with The Showdown “Temptation Come My Way” album back in 2007/2008 and haven’t changed my opinion since. David’s grit-filled voice is front and center just the way a good heavy metal band should be on the song, “We Die Young”. Well produced and placed instrumentation, with soaring vocal harmonies that really take this album completely over the top. It’s like that perfect combo of 80’s hard rock meets metal and 90’s era Metallica (Black album), solos and everything.… Continued →

The Showdown Recording New Track for Movie

The Showdown, the southern metal/death metal band from Tennessee, is recording again! For the first time since 2010, the band is recording new material for a film that will be in production next year. The film is called Silo: Edge of the Real World. The film is a meditation on life in a small midwest farm town. When a grain entrapment shocks their small community, Adam Fox, a young farmer and Clay Althoff, a senior in high school, both consider the risks and rewards of a corn farmer’s life.… Continued →

What Is The Showdown Up To?

It’s been a long time since the once main-stay metal act, The Showdown put out an album. In fact, it’s nearly been 7 years since Blood In The Gears was released. Feel old yet? Well something is going on and hopefully it means another album. On March 26, without warning The Showdown’s Facebook page went live. It was two members including vocalist David Bunton playing an acoustic version of We Die Young, a song from the classic rock influenced album, Temptation Come My Way. Following this video, there have been a few videos shared from their Instagram with Blunton recording vocals with hashtags involving the words the showdown.… Continued →

The Showdown streams live acoustic video

The southern metal band, The Showdown has not announced that they are back together, but they did do live stream where they played an acoustic song. The band started years ago in 1999 as 2450, but didn’t become The Showdown until 2003. They released four albums, two through Mono vs. Stereo and two through Solid State Records. The band may be hinting at a reunion, but expect an original lineup. Members Patrick Judge and Jeremiah Scott are probably really busy with Demon Hunter and probably won’t be able to perform.… Continued →

Heavy metal band, The Showdown, have recently joined Instagram (@theshowdownmetal) and have been posting throwback pics for the past few weeks.
