XREDLINEX Drop Explosive New Track "Ward of The State"

A brand new hardcore band on the scene called XREDLINEX, are back with the 2nd track off their upcoming 7″ release “Tongue Tied”, this one titled “Ward of The State”. Check the song out below and comment with your thoughts. It’s a fair mix of both old and new with all that righteous anger and fists through the wall adrenaline that hardcore is famous for. This is a killer track by a killer band so give these guys a listen.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Caustic Eminence - Corporate Christianity

Caustic Eminence was a raw, fast, hardcore punk band from Marion, IN. The band formed when they met as students at Indiana Wesleyan University. They released 2 demo cassettes before issuing the fabulous Another Day, Another Dollar 7″ through Cling Recordings in 1996. Not much else is known about the band other than their recorded output. Their take on punk was fast and furious, raw and lo-fi, contrary to the gamut of pop-punk bands that were popular at the time, which were moving towards more sophisticated sounds and production techniques.… Continued →

REVIEW : Teeth for Eyes - Teeth for Eyes EP

This punk rock supergroup features ex-members of Crux, Empty Tomb, Cicero, and Gov’t Hate Mail. So you can see why I was excited about hearing this disc. The EP contains 7 songs, clocks in around 17 minutes, and comes as a pro-CDr in a standard jewel case with a single panel insert with credits and no lyrics. Musically what we have here is no frills punk rock and roll. It’s not quite as spastic as Crux, and doesn’t have the hardcore/thrash leanings of Empty Tomb. When comparing to its members previous projects, it’s probably closest to Gov’t Hate Mail, but just slightly heavier than that project.… Continued →

American Arson Release New Song "Arrowheads" and Music Video

American Arson have returned strong this year with a bunch of songs off their upcoming album “Sand & Cinder, Tide & Timber” due out November 3rd on Facedown Records. This latest titled “Arrowheads” is a perfect representation of the glorious punch and delivery that American Arson have to offer through their music. There is something awe inspiring and utterly magnificent about this band. Everything from their songs and artwork to the songwriting and vocals just strike me as unique, a cut above the mundane. This is another bright spot for the killer independent label that Facedown Records remains.… Continued →

With Honor Obliterate the Masses With Energetic and Hard Hitting New Songs

With Honor is a band that I don’t believe we’ve shared much from in the past nor do they fit the typical definitions of an “IVM” related band but that isn’t important because their new songs absolutely rule. Sometimes it’s rare for a band to reemerge from a long absence and come back as hard hitting and emotionally connecting as a hardcore punk band like With Honor. Check out 3 new songs right now from their upcoming full length “Boundless” which will drop on Pure Noise Records on September 8th.… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Combat Junkies - Fight or Die

This old-school punk rock band The Combat Junkies, hailed from North Carolina, and featured a classic hardcore punk sound mixed with hints of oi/streetpunk and new school punk. To be honest, I’m not sure why this band didn’t make it bigger than they did. Their raw yet appropriately produced sound would have appealed to fans of 7-10 Split, Squad Five-0, One-21 and the like, and yet they seemed to fly underneath the radar of most fans. The Combat Junkies released two full-length albums. The War Within came out in 2002 on Clumsy Records, and Fight or Die .Continued →

Introducing: Generation Gone

For this special Saturday in July I thought I’d share another really great project with you this time from a group called “Generation Gone“. They are a melodic hardcore punk band out of Southern California featuring a heavy, hard hitting sound that is melodic at times and furious all the time. The music is loud but the production is above all the rest (makes sense since the famous producer Paul Miner has his hands on producing these tunes). Songs about life and frustration, about Faith and resolution, about coming to grips with who you are and what you believe.… Continued →

xDOULOSx Drop 2 New Songs

Southern California based hardcore/thrash/punk band – xDOULOSx, just dropped 2 new songs. Listen to “Cycles” and “Shots Fired”, below. This is really great heavy hardcore thrash-punk music. Sounds amazing and has a certain classic sound mixed in with the new school. Kinda reminds me of a mix of Downset, Six Feet Deep, The Crucified, The Warriors, No Innocent Victim, Knocked Loose, and All Out War. Good stuff. Listen to both songs below. Follow the band here.… Continued →

The Blamed have been dropping little hints about recording a new album and well friends, they’ve done it! The band is in a studio NOW, recording what will be their next full length record. The Blamed Re-Record "Separation" for 2022 and It is HUGE!

The Blamed just re-recorded their 1994 classic song – “Separation” off the album “21” and have posted it on soundcloud for your listening pleasure. Personally, I think this song blows away past material. It’s so well done yet classic at the same time. If 1994 was 2022, this is what “Separation” would most definitely sound like. Kudos to Bryan, Jim, and the rest of the gang for paying tribute to your roots while at the same time embracing the future. I can’t wait to hear what comes next!… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Warning - Condemned to Hell

If you’ve been around the Christian punk/metal/hardcore/indie scene for any amount of time, you will likely have heard the name Burrito. Not his real name, of course–the man David Villalpando was a legend in the underground scene. Sadly, the man that many called a friend passed away this week from covid-related illness. For those who didn’t know him, it is difficult to overstate his impact on the scene. From a musical standpoint, while none of his projects ever achieved mainstream success or financial prosperity, they were always on the bleeding edge of innovation.… Continued →

Song of the Day: scaterd-few - U

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Sin Disease is one of the greatest albums ever to emerge from our scene. Romald Domkus (born Allan Aguirre) and company unleashed a wonderfully chaotic debut album, with production from Terry Taylor (DA/Daniel Amos/Swirling Eddies/Lost Dogs) that set CCM on its head! Think I’m overstating things? Not possible. Here’s why: have you ever tried to pigeonhole the album, or this band, into a single genre? Good luck. Take equal parts hardcore punk, reggae, goth, glam rock, and heavy metal, and then top the whole thing off with a weird experimental noise track lasting over 7 minutes long.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Officer Negative - JCHC

Officer Negative is hxc punk at its finest imho. The Californian band even recently re-released some stuff last year from my recollection& I was able to buy a JCHC t-shirt! I am still stoked lol!. Anyways JCHC stands for Jesus Christ Hardcore & is an in your face about such. After the band disbanded, they formed a couple of other bands including hxc Hit the Deck metalcore The Death Campaign Project & cowpunk Zippy Josh. Below are its lyrics as well as a live video: Living for Christ is what we do That’s the definition of our hardcore We don’t need drugs or booz Christian punks we won’t loose Jesus Christ Hardcore Kick satan in the face With our steel toe boots We are in the army of God With salvation as our roots We all stand together Unified by Jesus Christ Defeating Satan spew With the word of Jesus Christ Sick and tired of worldly views Sick and tired of satans abuse Sick and tired of compromise Sick and tired of all his lies     Continued →

Song of the Day: Nobody Special - Finger Pointer

I first heard Nobody Special in 1989. My local contemporary Christian music radio station (KOKF 91.1 FM out of Oklahoma City) played their new album in its entirety over the airwaves. You see, KOKF was not your average CCM station. Sure, they played some adult contemporary and “inspirational” stuff during the daytime, but as the late afternoon and evening hit, they would feature more contemporary styles including pop, rap, rock, etc. And then after 9:00, it was all heavy music–mostly metal, but with some punk and hardcore thrown in from time to time.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Chasm - Unknown

In the mid- to late-90s when all of the other Christian hardcore bands were doing new school/chugga chugga style hardcore with increasingly metallic influences, Bakersfield’s Chasm were drawing on earlier inspiration. These influences came mostly from the 80s British hardcore punk/d-beat sound (Discharge, Conflict, etc.), although somewhat ironically this track has elements of early black metal in the guitar riffs (a la Venom or Bathory). Nonetheless it’s still filtered through a hardcore punk sound. The band released one 7″ (Squander, Squander the Bright New Dawn) and one full-length (Gye Nyame, from whence our featured song is taken).… Continued →

2Minute Minor Take a Trip Back to Their Day

2Minute Minor just dropped a special benefit “covers” album to benefit Suicide Prevention. The album features 10 covers of classic tv show theme songs including some instantly recognizable old hits that’ll get stuck in your head for days. Their unmistakable hardcore sound meshes well on these old classic theme songs and this is something you definitely need to own. Relive the past with through a heavy dose of in your face hardcore and a lens of nostalgic, child-like wonder. [Bandcamp Download]… Continued →

Song of the Day: Blaster the Rocket Man - Hopeful Monsters Are Dying Every Day

Film director Guillermo del Toro and spastic hardcore punk band Blaster the Rocket Man have at least one thing in common. Whereas most of society, and particularly within Christianity, monsters are usually the bad guys, these two artistic entities–operating in disparate fields as the case may be–often take the side of the monster. Pan’s Labyrinth, for instance, juxtaposes the kind but terrifying Pan against the inhuman, yet human, monsters of the Spanish fascists under Francisco Franco. Blaster the Rocket Man uses traditional monster and sci-fi imagery, all the while connecting these images to faith in Christ.… Continued →
