Song of the Day: The Colour Negative - Don't Waste My Time

By in Lyric Videos, News | No Comments

Did you know that the repercussions of IVM shutting down in the summer of 2015 were so far reaching that it caused the music industry to move release day from Tuesday to Friday? Okay, so that’s not actually true. But is true that the week after Indie Vision Music closed its doors the music industry instituted a Global Release Day to standardize album and single releases around the world. So when the idea of starting a Song of the Day feature was floated to the IVM staff I volunteered to take Tuesdays because of their historical association (in North America) with new music. And as you may have noticed my Song of the Day posts have featured new artists and songs every week. Something about using Tuesdays to share new music just seems right. Or maybe just nostalgic.

Speaking of nostalgia, today’s new song is “Don’t Waste my Time” by The Colour Negative. From the reflective lyrics recalling lost love to the retro-sounding pop-rock style this song has all the makings of a summer anthem. The band consists of brothers Ian (vocals, guitar, keys) and London Taylor (bass, backing vocals) and their friend Grant Godbee (guitar). The group has released an album and two EPs to date are planning to release their sophomore album this fall. Give the lyric video for “Don’t Waste My Time” a watch below and follow the band on Facebook and Instagram.
