My Most Anticipated Releases of 2019 (Part 2)

By in News | 5 Comments

In part 1 of my most anticipated albums of 2019 feature I mostly focused on artists who have confirmed releases for 2019. This time my list will feature artists who seem likely to release new music in 2019 but have yet to make it official.

The Oh Hellos

I feel like a new EP from The Oh Hellos in 2019 is a safe bet. The folk-rock band has stated previously that Notos and Eurus are just two of the four EPs to be named after the Greek mythological wind deities. So while there is no guarantee that Boreas or Zephyrus will be released this year it seems there is at least a good chance of it.

Tiger Drive

Tiger Drive has been posting cryptic hashtags and images ever since the year started. From what I can tell, something–be it their debut an album or EP–is being released on February 1, 2019 and will feature the previously released singles “Together” and “Save Me” as the first two tracks.

Judah & the Lion

Judah & the Lion are starting the new year off classy by saying “frick it” to 2018 and giving it the ring finger. However you might feel about their minced oath it’s hard to argue with the message of hope they aim to spread in 2019. Their new singles “Pep Talk” and “Quarter-Life Crisis” are all about moving forward with the help of your family and friends. And since the band shared a video on social media with obscured release dates in every month between now and May it seems fair to assume that we’ll see a few more singles and probably and album or EP in the Spring.

Izzi Ray

Liminality was one of my favorite albums of 2017. And according a recent post (recent as in it was posted less than hour ago) on social media, Izzi Ray has returned to the studio to start work on album number four. Which is really impressive for an artist who will only be turning 23 this year.

Jessie Early

While I vaguely remember Wild Honey being released in 2017 it was only in 2018 that I finally got around to listening to it. “Holy Ghost” is one of the best songs I heard in 2018 despite the fact I left off it my year end playlist since technically it’s from 2017. So I was quite happy to hear that Jessie Early is working on new music for 2019. Hopefully that means an album or EP, but I’ll be happy with a few singles if nothing else.

In my third (and last) post in this series I’ll be speculating on the artists that I hope will be releasing new music in 2019 even if it is unlikely!

The Oh Hellos are just so good. Their live show is unrivalled at this point in time. Can’t wait for the next EPs. It seems that they recorded Notos and Eurus together and I imagine that they’ll record (or have recorded) the next two together. Looking forward to hearing them.

A Hope for Home teased a 2019 release over a year ago. Hoping to see them back in the game.
