Fallstar Return With Intense and Personal New Song

By in News | 2 Comments

Fallstar are back and with a new song in tow. Check out the track “SSRI Feel Better Already” below this post and give it a solid listen. The song will appear on the new album “Sunbreather”, out February 2021 through Facedown Records. I was an on/off Fallstar fan in the past probably due to my tastes at the time but this new song completely changes my entire outlook on the band and their job as musicians. This is solid and I mean that in the most sincere way. As the kids would say, it’s a BANGER! The song not only invokes intensely personal imagery and lyrical input but musically it’s an explosive, charging jam. “SSRI” stands for Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and is another word for Anti Depressant medication. You can read vocalist Chris Ratzlaf’s explanation on the meaning behind the song, below. I strongly believe issues of mental health and mental wellness needs to be heard in today’s music scene, especially with the state of our world in our current climate. So many people are struggling with current events and COVID, God heals yes but sometimes there are people among us (myself included) that need that extra push to achieve that sense of wellness. Thank you Fallstar for spreading this much needed message.

Facedown Records alumni Fallstar are back! The band just dropped a surprise single “SSRI Feel Better Already” and you can hear it everywhere you stream music.
Vocalist Chris Ratzlaf talks about the meaning behind the lyrics:

This song is about humanity’s will to live despite hopeless circumstances, and how those of us who struggle with depression lose that will. From indigenous people during their colonization, to kids born today into a world suffering irreparable climate change, there is a resilience in humanity to continue and press on.

The song muses at this phenomena, while contrasting with my own crippling depression, and how SSRI medicine gave me back that will and drive to keep living.

The new single is part of an upcoming album “Sunbreather,” out February 2021.

Back in 2013, Fallstar released their label debut “Backdraft,” and have come back to Facedown to release their 2021 album “Sunbreather.”
