Emery Launches Indiegogo Campaign for 7th Full-Length Record

By in News | 5 Comments

Emery has launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund their 7th full-length record. The campaign goal is $50,000, and only a day after launching it is already 65% funded at the time of this publication. Considering their last campaign was 222% funded, it shouldn’t be long before the goal is met. Each pledge will receive a digital download of the new record along with an immediate download of Emery: Classics Reimagined EP, which features fully re-arranged and re-imagined versions of “So Cold I Could See My Breath”, “As Your Voice Fades”, and “The Smile, The Face”. Other pledge packages include CDs, backer-exclusive t-shirts, 180g black vinyl, color vinyl, your name in the liner notes, the eBook Aaron Lunsford of As Cities Burn is writing about Emery, along with many more options. The estimated delivery date for the new album is October 2017.

I wish there were a package for around $50 that includes a vinyl and your name in the liner notes…That being said, the EP is great.

I can never quite decide how I feel about Emery. Not as a band, I love the music they produce. However, they dance around with some moral stuff I don’t know that I agree with from time to time, and it turns me off. Haven’t decided if I’ll back this album yet because of it. To date, the only thing I’ve ever backed n one of these platforms was HTD’s Coward. It takes some proof of quality to get me to buy into these things.

If proof of quality is what you are looking for this is not the first crowd funded album as a band. The last album was done through crowd funding as well. You can view it here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/emery-you-were-never-alone/x/6629530#/

Plus add a few other projects they have done for Bad Christian and Devon’s solo album were crowd funded as well. Not sure if what you meant by quality, but they definitely have this crowd funding thing down if that is what was worrying you.

Like I said, it’s not the music I worry about with them. I was more speaking of crowdfunding as a whole, the way it puts all the risk on the customers. I know I like Emery’s music, and knew they went this route with the last album. I’m just not sure what I think of them on a moral level.
